    Considering Hexes instead of squares

Unless I misremember my geometry, because octagons do not tesselate and thus must be interspersed with other shapes to create a grid. This seems like it would make things harder, not easier.

    Cast Ritual

I would argue that given their versatility, rituals would be unbalanced if they were not equally available to all classes. Since all the classes are balanced in combat, they should be out of combat as well. DC

What is your Power source if you multi?

People don't have power sources...powers do. By extension classes do because classes are largely defined by their powers. Fighters and rogues draw from the martial power source to master their exploits. A fighter with who multiclasses to warlock is a fighter and a warlock and has thus learned...

Consumeable items in the new economy

Since small scale healing is now more firmly in the hands of the characters as a default, potions of Cure Light Wounds are in may ways obsolete. I would anticipate (hope?) that such potions would be more potent and worth increased investment. Of course, the question remains, how do you monetize...

    D&D 4E [Eberron] Dragonmarks in 4E

The problem with this is that it would make every marked character choose their mark as a paragon path rather than allowing for layers of concept. Currently, I could be a fighter, multiclassed to rogue, with a bunch of diplomacy skill training, a kensai paragon path, call myself a swashbuckler...

    D&D 4E Problem with 4e Multiclassing

This is one of the things they talked about early on: the designers felt that one of the things that "defined" D&D was a class / level paradigm. It is one thing I firmly agree with. A classless, point build, cherry-pick system is wonderful for some concepts but strongly favors veteran gamers...

    D&D 4E [Eberron] Dragonmarks in 4E

I suspect that the Dragonmarks will remain feats. The Least Dragonmark will offer abilities on par (but generally less useful in combat) to the racial powers that we have seen many races possess (Infernal Wrath, Fey Step) on a per encounter or per day basis. I don't think that they will be power...

    The magic item cycle

Maintaining balance. There is no realistic reason that a person cannot wear 8-10 magical rings...the ramifications of benefiting from that many at once are complex. Slots exists not so that you can be sure to fill them (though many character will naturally) but so that you are forced to...

    Some crunch from Rich Baker

This! Undeath is a corruption of nature by the Shadowfell (in the default at least) so all of the gods would likely oppose it. Vecna might be a little hard to understand (being undead) but when you think about it, he is the god of secrets and is unlikely to be a big fan of sharing his undead...

Questions to Ask About a Class:

--> Will an effective implementation of this class make one or more existing classes redundant or reduced in efficacy. --> Would this class be more easily created as a new "build" and set of powers for an existing class. DC

    Class features after 1st level?

This. I wouldn't be at all surprised. This would also make it so that choosing a multiclass in place of a paragon path would actually be an equivalent benefit. DC

    Why rename HP & Saves?

Except to deal with virtually ever status or ongoing effect (including some positive ones). 1d10: 1-10 = still going 11-20 = beat it. I'm not sure why saving throw is even part of this discussion. They are now more "saving throws" then they have ever been and defenses are a-whole-nother thing. DC

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

I feel that they cover all concepts that are both worth playing and fair to the other players / characters. The only ones I see being problematic are ones that (as above) aren't really multiclass concepts but whole new concepts altogether. DC

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

I pretty much agree with every word Cadfan said above. The issue appears to be less "can I create a concept that I want that actually works?" because the feat based seems to do that pretty well. More the issue seems to be "can I create the 2e half-elf fighter / mage?" which did both as well or...

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

Not a negative...more an affirmative plus a "duh" As the multiclassing article stated (and I agree with this point) true "dual classing" where you progress evenly in two classes is essentially impossible to balance in a robust class-based system (just as a "point accounting" system for class...

    Martial characters and rituals

With rituals, I like the idea that the power is in the words and components rather than the caster. There is a feel of invoking ancient powers that shaped the world versus "preparing raise dead" DC
