    Intimidate in combat: viable?

The DC is set by DM fiat by the rules.

Thirst and Dehydration: How much water?

My source is the SAS Survival Handbook You lose about .5 to .75 of a gallon per day. One waterskin a day should do you, you're at a slight negative balance in terms of water, but not enough to impair you. Oh and as to drinking 4 gallons of water in a day, not only would it probably kill...

    dealing with blindness and invisibility

What the OP is saying. Player A and player B get into a fight with monster X. Monster X blinds player A but player B can still see it so the mini remains on the map. On player A's turn he targets the square that monster X is in because he can still see the mini on the map, even though the...

Haven't DM'ed in a while, some questions for yeh

    1. Just reduce how much you get back from an extended rest. Half hit points back (spend surges for more), and two-three healing surges (or half your maximum to punish defenders less). And as mentioned above, the disease mechanics can work to simulate long term injury.

For Those Who Love, Hate, or Love & Hate 4E: What Did 4E Do Right?

The thing I like most about 4e is the way they exposed the system to view. It's a lot easier to see how it works, and because of that it's a lot easier to change when need be.

    Sexism related poll

My campaign is gender neutral, completely egalitarian. My campaign is about 50/50 composition, 2f/3m to be exact. I've had each gender play members of their own gender and the opposite. There are gay NPCs (well only bisexual ones have appeared, but there are theoretically gay ones) No one has...

Forked Thread: DDI Changes - Your reaction

We knew there was a price increase coming and lucky us it's a very small increase.

DDI - What's happening to the Virtual Game Table and Character Visualiser?

It's on hold. It is on hold at least in part because the majority of people would prefer other tools first.

    Quest Rewards for Larger Parties

Just calculate what the value would be for a single person in a five man party and multiply that by nine.

    The price of things

20% is perfectly reasonable. They're high security risk items, highly valuable but low demand. These things probably take months to sell at the minimum while they get taxed, and you might never even sell them. Given that magic stores to be an actual business would have to work on...

    Moving the Story Forward

Uh, one hour per encounter is not some sort of universal standard. All the OP needs to worry about is whether the players are having fun, and it sounds like they are, so I would advise not worrying about it.

Classes and Roles: supply and demand

They did make another defender class. It's the swordmage. Just because your group doesn't want to use it doesn't mean it's not there.

    MM II Identity Parade

I like the 4e monster books just the way they are. Nice statblocks with little nuggets of lore. The MM gives the interesting info, it doesn't give us useless, boring info. And when you try to make up that many ecologies then a lot of boring and useless info is going to slip through.

4e Monsters that scare the crap out of characters

Needlefang Drake Swarm! I threw three at my players just to see what happened, the three nearly wiped the seven man party.

    905 feats in Compendium.

On getting mauled in one round

One of my players though sneaking around a wall to get behind some monsters the PCs had bottlenecked up was a good idea. He learned why it was a mistake when he moved within charging range of the kobolds. Two turns later he was dead.

A Question for the 25 and under crowd - What have you read?

I'm 19, Vance, Moorcock and Brooks are the only ones I haven't read. On China Meiville, his fantasy is not traditional fantasy, but it is wonderful and imaginative. If you haven't read him then you should give him a try. Perdido Street Station is the best book to start.
