    Templar Cleric article updated 6/21/11

Looks good enough to eat! [chomp]. :)

    6/21 DDI update is live

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to see the CC Templar (updated) so soon. You guys don't always get praised for things done well. So I'll say it---good job! I've worked in software development and know what a beast it is sometimes. Too bad software bugs don't have their own Monster Vault...

D&D 4E The yet still complete list of official 4E D&D products: now with new format!

I hope this is true. And I hope they be not be another one of the D&D Encounters events. I live in the sticks--too far away to attend Encounters events. Encounters is a good idea, but I still feel like I'm missing out on good new material.

Doing the Monster Math for the original MM

Thanks guys, I finally see the light. Now I can convert my MM monsters with more confidence. :)

Doing the Monster Math for the original MM

Thank you. What I fail to grasp is this... (13+8)*1.25 = 26. That part I was able to figure from MM3 on a biz card (which is very handy) 3d10+11 would produce a possible dmg range of 3 - 41 How does 3d10+11 expression result from 26? Is it an average? How do they know to use a d10 rather...

Doing the Monster Math for the original MM

Thanks S'mon! Is the purpose of changing 2d10+15 to 3d10+9 to add more randomness in damage results and/or lowering the floor for minimum damage?

If it's an obvious choice then it's broken

Agreed. Everyone in our group looks for cool stuff rather than better stuff. I suppose certain things would seem broke if all the players happened to be CharOps. It is probably realistic to assume that some bad-mamma-jama heroes are a bit more bad-mama-jama than others in certain situations...

Doing the Monster Math for the original MM

Thread Rez! I knew I had seen a thread that provided a step by step method of updating monster to MM3 math (with some examples). Thanks again Aegeri :) I want to see if I've learned this correctly by trying my hand at it. I chose an easy one--the Hill Giant from MM1. Forgive me for the...

    Monster Manual 3 New Math?

I still have not figured how to update monsters with any level of confidence. I did read somewhere that it is not necessary to update heroic tier monsters. I'm not sure this is correct, but it would be nice if it was true. Perhaps I need to find an Upgrading Monsters for Dummies thread.

Rule of Three 6/13/2011: "semi-obscure but flavorful setting" in Dungeon and Dragon

I'm thinking Thunder Rift too. Just a gut feeling.

    D&D 4E Do you mix'n'match Essentials with standard 4e?

Mix and match...with worries. I'm open to allowing players to select any class they want. However, when they do choose a non-essentials PC, I'm faced with grappling with all that errata. Yuck, I'm not even sure if I have the numbers right most of the time. My errata kung fu is weak. It is...

Strange Artwork - the One-Legged Elf

The answer is simple...she really does have one leg. Note she is holding the staff; she is using it as her other leg. After she stands up, she will continue hopping down the street :) Such is the fate of some adventurers. The beggar lady seems to have only one arm. The dwarf's knees are...

Confusion over Class Compendium, Essentials, and Splat Books

Thank you! This is very helpful. I think I read in one of the rule-of-three articles that the designers believe the PHB3 classes are just fine like they are (hence no CC update coming for them). I wonder if the Bard will get a Class Compendium reprint? At this point, it seems that only PHB1...

Confusion over Class Compendium, Essentials, and Splat Books

I'm confused about the D&D landscape now days, but hopefully someone has a better handle on what is going on. Lately, WotC has been releasing these Class Compendium articles that take a class from the 4e PHB and updates it. But what is the purpose of these updates? Are they to simply add...

Healthy snacks & drinks for gaming?

First, clue your players in. You said you like fruit and yoghut. One simple approach is to ask your fellow gamers if they happen to like these things too. If so, you are good to go. Just keep a trash bin close-by so folks can toss. If they don't like fruit, ask them what healthy snacks...

Wow...exciting new product for Oct 2011

Heroes of the Corn! Product Description For heroes who bask in corn fields and like to kill evil little kids. The demi-plane of Corn is a grim place through which unruly kids and spooky scarecrows leave the corn fields for... wherever. In most corn fields, evil things live there, suffused with...

The Class Compendium articles are great!

I still think the Class Compendium stuff is great. I'll try to explain why. I'm not much of a guru on character optimization stuff. I do know that the developers are better at analyzing crunch than me. Now for folks who do pay attention to the balance of classes I certainly understand why...

The Class Compendium articles are great!

I'm not sure about others, but I'm really enjoying the Class Compendium stuff. I suppose the big thing for me is that I don't enjoy going back to apply errata. The updated classes are errata'ed, packaged, and ready to go. This is a great value for me. I don't really care if the Mage can...
