Give Me Moral Dilemmas for my PCs!

I totally agree. I am reminded of a game I DMed a few years ago where one player got left behind in a cave that was the home of a group of Ogres. The PC was about 3rd level. The Ogres had been capturing children from the nearby human village. At first, when the Ogres returned home trapping...

Give Me Moral Dilemmas for my PCs!

I really like challenging my players with morally ambiguous or difficult situations. Some that I've used in the past: 1. Saddle them with an innocent NPC who inadvertently causes them a lot of trouble, repeatedly. Every time he is in danger, and the PCs have to rescue him at risk to...

Have you ever played an old character?

Yeah, there is a wizard that is central to my homebrew. He started out at about 19, and we have covered his life all the way up to lichdom, as he struggled to avoid death from natural causes. I've also seen people play aged wizards and priests. Its more common in 3e than it was before.

Abstract Wealth Systems - yes or no?

In my experience abstract wealth systems make things more difficult. I like to know specifics when it comes to the PC's resources.

    God of unhappiness

I can't think of any off-hand, but I do think that "God of Sorrow" sounds a little better than "God of Unhappiness." Just my opinion of course.. ;)

    Diseased creatures

Most any living creature can have a disease. And most diseases are contagious. [shameless plug] Natures Wrath offers a list of over 50 real world diseases such as Rabies, Cholera, Plague, Anthrax, and many more. Each disease description includes details on the transmission method and...

What flavor are sorcerers in your campaign?

They are not allowed in my homebrew. The setting predates them by several years and retro-fitting them won't work. Wizards and their methods of magic are an important part of the world's backstory. Not to mention that dragons have been extinct for centuries.

    (December) What are you reading?

I''ve been reading some short stories lately. The best ones have been "Vandy, Vandy" by Manly Wade Wellman, "The Crowd" by Ray Bradbury. "The Reach" by Stephen King, and "A Little Something for us Tempunauts" by Philip K. Dick. I'll be working my way deeper into my short story collection in...

    Weird Thing about pricing...

IMO, PDFs should be priced based on word count, not page count. When pricing by word, there is a curve. Long books with 50,000+ words usually have a lower per word cost than shorter titles (5,000 words).

$1.80 with your kroger card. About the cheapest in the area. Still too high for my taste.

Wow-Original Star Trek is pretty cool.

I thought it had a massive plot hole. Its been too long ago now for me to remember it, but I know when it ended I was thinking "WTF!" Then the screen said "Written by Harlen Elison." And I said, "Oh, well that explains it."

Wow-Original Star Trek is pretty cool.

Oh, I agree. I cringed typing her name. Nevertheless, its cool to see the fruits of Dr. Kings efforts like that.

Wow-Original Star Trek is pretty cool.

I've seen Whoopi Goldberg say that she saw Nichele Nicholls as a role model when she was growing up and considering a career in show busness. Yeah, the original Star Trek is pretty cool... except for that one episode written by Harlen Elison (involving a time warp)...

    why cant you sunder armour?

Speaking strictly in terms of game balance, there really isn't any reason why you can't. Monte has said before that the high rate of treasure that characters typically get (according to the tables in the DMG) is high because it is offset by characters periodically losing items, including their...
