Though technically only enemies adjacent to the earth.

best magic property for execution axe [heroic tier]

It could be argued that the rules []do[/i] call it out. From Brutal: From PHB(276, "Damage Rolls") Though I cannot say it would be game-breaking if Blargny is correct, I prefer a system that is DM-favored (do the rules say that you can?) over player-favored (do the rules say that you can't?).

Rain of steel - too powerful?

Rain of Steel is not the OA. The verbage is there so that RoS cannot fire off if the fighter isn't able to use OA via conditions (Petrified, Stunned, etc). Your example would have the fighter stop them with Combat Superiority (dealing 1d10+7), hit them with RoS when they start their turn...

Holy Water or other weapons for undead?

So you have no issue with holy water dealing no damage to minions?

Holy Water or other weapons for undead?

While I like the direction this is going, I have two quick questions: How will this affect minions? How do we fix it?

    Is "Shield" too powerful?

 Now there's a use for it I overlooked.

    Warlock Implement Questions?

I would have to say "No" to all three. The first two come up against the "Can you use two implements at the same time?" issue. The third question runs into the "Are Pact Blades weapons when used as implements?" issue. Saying "Yes" to the first question throws open the door to the...

    Reaving Rod and...

This still seems to boil down into "can you use two implements at the same time?" to me. So far, my ruling at the table has been "No." Wow. Look at that. This specific issue - solved.

Anyone tried a fighter with reach yet?

I can see 'reach warlord' much more than 'reach fighter'. Too many of the fighter's exploits limit the range to adjacent.

Is Fighter's Combat Challenge an OA or not?

And this is why my workplace has somebody other than the programmers write the manuals. After months/years working on something, it becomes so 'obvious' that 'everybody knows this.'

    A little PHB 2 info

I could definitely see Barbarian as a Striker. Rage could simply be it's "Warlock's Curse".

Is Fighter's Combat Challenge an OA or not?

I think you have that backwards. You can make one OA per opponent's turn, but you only get one Immediate action per turn. You could make many more OAs than Immediate Interrupts.

    Fiery Bolt Crit

Thanks for the text, I don't have access at work. If the above is correct, then the 'splash' damage will be maximized. It is all based on the same hit roll.

    Fiery Bolt Crit

Nope. Crits don't maximize damage for other attack rolls.

    Replacing dead party members

The first death happened when the Dragonborn Paladin knowingly triggered an ambush meant for the whole party. He took enough damage in the first salvo to drop well below the point of no return. Death number two was caused by the Tiefling Warlock showboating. After repeated warnings, he...

    Replacing dead party members

Sadly, the chance of him re-rolling the exact character would be relatively low (rolls are made in front of the group). Since this is 4E, however, the group has decided to use the standard point buy. This, plus the DMG's suggestion on replacement characters, makes 'cloning' far too easy...

    Replacing dead party members

I find the 'duplicate character' issue crops up relatively often with point buy and a beloved character concept. Escalating things is the fact that the Warlock player has made it known that he will continue to generate the identical character because he wants to see his concept in the higher...

    Replacing dead party members

My players started with the following group (1st level): Human Fighter (Two-Handed) Dragonborn Paladin Warforged Paladin Tiefling Warlock (Infernal) Human Wizard (Staff) While there were some issues (Paladins had a combined WIS mod of +1, Warlock has 14 CON and 18 CHA), all of the characters...

D&D 4E Alas, poor Raknor - List your character deaths in 4e so far!

The same encounter saw two of my players lose characters: Medrash, Dragonborn Paladin died when he took an encounter on by himself (2x Guard Drakes, 2x Hyenas, 5x Kruthik Hatchlings). Reaver, Tiefling Warlock died when the rest of the group tried to save him.

Split the Tree: Help me convince a player who doesn't agree

I have an issue with this reading. While it is a personal one, it strikes to the heart of most rules disputes over 4E. Let's face it - we are constantly arguing RAW vs RAI based off of some rather ambiguous wordings most of the time. For these arguments, the best that we can do is treat the...
