What are some examples of 'casual gamer' or 'mass market' tabletop RPG products?

Confessions of a part time sorceress D&D for dummies I don't know about 'casual gamer' or 'mass market', but these products seemed to be there to draw more people into the hobby,

Good spell to cast via Miracle for my evil cleric?

How about Invisibility, Greater? I don't know your players' capacity to detect invisible, but you can cast it, then fly in some direction and hopefully be well hidden.

What adventure module defines D&D to you?

So many good choices. B2 for all the reasons said. GDQ for going up against giant fortresses then traveling into the mysterious underground to face a new enemy. T1 is also a good choice. It has all the tropes that end up in level 1 D&D adventures. - Small town - Ruins - Bandits (Hum Ftr1...

    How do poisons work ?

Buy a stack of arrows and apply the poison before battle. Then you can just choose in battle to use the poisoned arrows or the non-poisoned arrows. Using INT damage against a wizard may seem like a good idea, but generally STR and CON poison are the best to have. You can incapacitate somebody...

When should PCs grow into Large or Huge size?

They're just racial paragon classes which appear in Unearthed Arcana. Which I think came first.

Characters with Pounce! ALSO: Fair price for Pounce?

Easy. Power game your damage and one-shot enemies. Nothing more defensive than that. If you haven't done that, then have the fighter stand in the doorway and have the wizard behind him.

    Detect Evil/Good... Metagaming?

I've never found it to be an issue. The designers knew about it, thats why we have the undetectable alignment spell. Anyone who matters in D&D can get access to it.

    Seeking a little advice

For balance reasons? Melee combat is nerfed quite heavily, and ranged combat is near impossible. No manner of 3e balance requires nerfing physical combat, but leaving spellcasting unchanged.

Characters with Pounce! ALSO: Fair price for Pounce?

All failed? I did this all the time and it was great. We must be playing very differently.

[Those who like 4ed] What has been lost?

This is a hold over from OD&D. Since everyone rolled on the same to-hit table and all weapons did d6 damage the fighter and the cleric were equally good in combat. Their "solution" was to make all the magic weapons edged so that the clerics couldn't use them.

Characters with Pounce! ALSO: Fair price for Pounce?

This is why you make sure you don't miss. True Strike, Smite Evil, Deep Impact(XPH), Shock Trooper(CW), or Sure Strike(SC, total hax) and full power/leap attack. At low levels you can probably get by with just your strength bonus. At higher levels, make sure you carry around a Luck Blade in your...

Players: Have You Ever Asked, "Why Don't You Take Care Of It?"

The ghost druid is the powerful caster. The one that requires the ghost magic plot device to justify the sending the PCs. Since you're going to nitpick I guess the exact thought would be "Your master is a powerful caster. Why doesn't she do it?". It's the same thing.

Players: Have You Ever Asked, "Why Don't You Take Care Of It?"

I'll try and reply to this, though I think we'll just be retreading what has already been said if this goes on any longer. It's a bad plot hook. It immediately sets up the "You're a powerful caster. Why don't you do it?" question. The answer is magic. Now if you're willing to accept "Ghost...

Players: Have You Ever Asked, "Why Don't You Take Care Of It?"

Yeah that is basically what we thought. I go on adventures for myself, not for some whiny patrons. That druid should go and save her own forest. Oh she can't because of MAGIC. Well thats a great reason. Seems to me if it was so important to get us railroaded up there to fight those giants, the...

    Prestige Class for Barbarian/Rogue

I have always enjoyed the Assassin prestige class in the DMG. Poison your weapons and make a lot of attacks. They'll fail their save eventually.

Characters with Pounce! ALSO: Fair price for Pounce?

I'd say pounce is not particularly strong. Two reasons. First off, of the iterative attacks, only the second one has a chance. Your second off hand attack may have a chance if you're a two weapon fighter. But if you're going for a strategy that revolves around a lot of hits, rapid shot and many...

Players: Have You Ever Asked, "Why Don't You Take Care Of It?"

No it's not. At this point in the adventure, the PCs own a fort. They're level 10. They are a big deal. A big enough deal that it is not okay to be bossed around by pixies and be forced to do a quest for some nobody ghost.

Players: Have You Ever Asked, "Why Don't You Take Care Of It?"

Did it once it one of the most awful "twists" ever written into an adventure. Hook Mountain Massacre from Paizo by Nicholas Logue. Towards the end of the adventure, the players will think everything has been resolved and wrapped up. Out of nowhere a pixie shows up and tells you that you have to...

Simple idea to "fix" the magic weapon problem

Well this allows you to toggle between two magic weapons at the cost of your hands slot and some extra gp. Since the gauntlets override magical weapon properties, you're really only buying one weapon with them. I'd say with this, you don't solve the problem. I've never really seen this as much...

    Greatest Villain Every

Dracula. All the villains I've seen in this thread have nothing on Dracula. I don't think any explanation is needed, but I'll go through it anyway. 1. Owns a castle in east Europe. Commands a tribe of gypsies. 2. Generally always loses in the end. In the canon novel, it is debatable whether...
