    Removing homogenity from 4e

If this isn't about 3e vs 4e, then stop talking about how 4e does what you want so much better than 3e. Stop using 4e in your posts to argue against our points. Otherwise, we'll go back to our arguments about all the things 4e doesn't let us do. Now, on those 3 options you admit to having, 2 of...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

Good idea. So you've got 3 options to do what you wanted. Whats the problem? They're not a very good fit? I think they all work quite well. The fighter option is the slightly worse, but core option. The Cosmopolitan feat seems to give you just what you're looking for. You can nitpick at...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

This is a good point if we're agreed that we're not comparing 3e to 4e anymore. I find the example given under the class header especially amusing.

    Removing homogenity from 4e

    1. Fighter/rogue - Hardly a "suite of abilities", the only ability here that goes against your concept is sneak attack. Unless you will now expand your concept to not include dodging fireballs, surprise attacks, and traps. And, I still consider that a McFightsWell shouldn't be able to sneak...

I want my Psionic browser too! (Or how the hell would you know?)

I feel for you here. This is definitely something thats bothers me too. I found enworld because of Quasqueton's series of threads about the classic 1e adventures. Thats what drew me into this forum. Discussions and stories about adventures, game systems, what works, what doesn't work, that sort...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

This argument isn't about the names, it's about the feel of the class. If I want to be a shortbow rouge, I shouldn't have to be a ranger. There should be some significant difference between a rouge and ranger. A difference that goes beyond a ranger is a rogue who uses a bow. If your definition...

Give advice to improve my AC

Remember, Mage Armor is not an abjuration spell and thus not improved by the abjurant armor class feature of an abjurant champion. The designer who wrote the class made a mistake there and the errata points out the error.

    Removing homogenity from 4e

Imaro asked for a "rogue whose competent with a shortbow" not a ranger. Being a ranger carries with it 30 levels worth of ranger powers. Is your argument that to be a shortbow rogue, all he has to do is give up all his rogue powers?

    Removing homogenity from 4e

In 4e diplomacy isn't a class skill for fighters, nor will your fighter have a very high charisma score, unless you specifically gimp yourself in combat. So you can't really take any class and be as suave as you want. You'll have to settle for 1/2 level and feats while your paladin friend might...

What do you do when the rules don't allow something?

It's a case where the monster has its own safe spot from which it can fight with near immunity. This is the sort of situation that can really make a fight drag. If your players won't have a way to draw the dragon into a reasonable fight, something has to change. You could put something in the...

PDFS: How do you like them formatted?

I like PDFs with 2 or 3 columns as I like to zoom in so the words are nice and big. Columns mean I won't have to scroll right and left to get the whole line. This is the most important thing to me. I prefer sans-sarif as it looks better on a computer screen, although this is not very important.

Magic Item that offers 1 shot protection?

Contingency + Dispel Magic can take care of things like polymorph. For save or die protection have the death ward spell cast or use death ward armor.

    On the marketing of 4E

Count me in as one who thought Wizards was trashing 3.5. Looking back, I believe the problem was that the designers would talk about parts of 3.5 that they claimed weren't fun. They would then go on to explain how the faulty mechanic in question would be better in 4e. This approach backfired on...

    Removing homogenity from 4e

Silent Image has a duration of "concentration" which means you must use a standard action to maintain it. Since the creatures will be making will saves against this, that seems a lot less useful than something like sleep. I don't recall anyone ever making the case that silent image or illusion...

    I hate armor

Have your fighters take 2 levels of monk. You gain your wisdom bonus to AC, improved grapple, +3 to saves, evasion, combat reflexes, and unarmed strike. It is one of the best dips in 3.5e. The wis bonus to AC also stacks with magic that provides an AC bonus. Ask your wizard buddy to cast mage...

Tell me about these older edition D&D products [list updated: Nov 20/10]

This is the only product on you're list that I'm familiar with this time. Anyway this is a great adventure. Some high level PCs are tasked with sneaking into the prison in Iuz's city and getting down to the bottom level and rescuing a war hero. How the PCs do this is the real challenge as...

Round Six: Old School Modules... The Last Round!

I'll disagree on X4. I did not like that module very much. You travel across the world going to the location of X5. Along the way you fight some wandering monsters and a lot of bandits. Seriously a lot of bandits. Some of the setups for those fights are kind of interesting, but they don't...

Tell me about these older edition products [old list]

Lyzandred: This module is crap. The idea is that it's a "puzzle dungeon". There are 100 rooms, that you arrange in any order you want. Half are combats, half are puzzles. But the puzzles are things taken out of a children's puzzle book. For example: "A confused looking man with a raft is...

Tell me about these older edition products [old list]

D&D Rules Cyclopedia It's all of classic d&d in one book. Also my favorite edition of d&d. If you're interested in classsic d&d this is the way to go. Dungeon Master's Guide [1e] As others have said, it's great for reading and ideas, but you won't get any use out of it the table. Gates of...

3.5 high level woes and Paizo's hand in it.

I remember this fight. I was worried that it would be TPK, but when we actually ran it my group of 4 3rd level PCs rolled over those wind dukes no problem. There was a psychic warrior, druid, wizard, and a knight. The psychic warrior was great with a bow, so even though the wind dukes were...
