DC of jumping from stalagmite to stalagmite

Throwing together a LVL 3-5ish dungeon and I made a room that has no floor, but a bunch of really tall Stalagmite-like pillars that jut up from the ground far below. In the center of the room is a chest on a much larger platform. What skill checks/DC's would seem the most relevant/fair to get...

what is the balance DC to jump from stalagmite to stalagmite

Throwing together a LVL 3-5ish dungeon with 3.5 D&D rules and I made a room that has no floor, but a bunch of really tall Stalagmite-like pillars that jut up from the ground far below. In the center of the room is a chest on a much larger platform. What skill checks/DC's would seem the most...

3.0 Paladin Dragon Mount spell sharing

the long and short of it is "Ask your DM". there isnt a rule for this but as a DM I would certainly allow it if I allowed a Copper dragon mount. Seems like a 2 way street to me, but I am a fairly leanient DM when it comes to power level. I care more about how fun the game is and how immersed...

    mapping 3d dungeons

pretty comfortable, I have been DM-ing half of my life for a total of 15 years. I have drawn a ton of maps...I am trying to challenge both myself and my players now with cool stuff like a 3d dungeon where you have to swim in blood and other wierd scenarios that dont come up as often

D&D 3.x 3.5 E, older D&D and Pathfinder. What do D&D vets think of pathfinder

Fair enough....my main point was that rogues were not built as a class in game to be massive damage producers and that generally if you prefer the fighting style of a rogue but are unsatisfied with the ability to be viable in combat the (generrally) better way would be to use a figter with feats...

    mapping 3d dungeons

So in my latest campaign I have taken to building dungeons that are 3 dimensional...not in the sense that they have multiple levels as much as there can be chambers that are above and below the standard "level" A demonic catacomb i have just done is mostly filled with blood and, if they...

D&D 3.x 3.5 E, older D&D and Pathfinder. What do D&D vets think of pathfinder

Amen to that....if you are playing a rogue for the combat abilities you really meant to play a fighter or BBN...rogues excell in times of intrigue, guile and sneakery....I play a rogue 80+% of the time and I could give a rat's @$$ about sneak attack....If i kill something, its USUALLY a Coup de...

    The Easter Eggs

my easter eggs tend to show up in the form of recurring characters. there is a Dwarf rogue named Quartz that was an NPC from the first D&D game I was ever a player in that we caught.....how do i say this in a somewhat appropreate manner...."Spying on a female PC and pleasuring himself" He makes...

    Amusing/Un-Helpful Magic item idea help.

one of my favorites I have doen is the Sword of WHAT THE!?! and the Scabbard of That's better. when you draw the sword you get a fish or something else rediculous and a hilt, you then must exclaim WHAT THE!?! and then put it back in the scabbard and then it will come back out a +2 shortsword and...

A - Creating Memorable NPC's, items, locations and events: Every campaign I run there is something super cool that everyone remembers from years to come. Be it the Half-Red Dragon Bluebird to the Player Death by an animated sofa, each game has that moment that the players will NEVER forget B...

D&D 3.x 3.5 E, older D&D and Pathfinder. What do D&D vets think of pathfinder

That's not what I was refering to,. I was talking about the EXTRA +2 you get in the conversion btwn pathfinder and 3.5. Wizards came out in 4th ed with the same change and said specifically that they gave an extra +2 mod to ANOTHER score per race because players didnt like having a penalty to...

D&D 3.x 3.5 E, older D&D and Pathfinder. What do D&D vets think of pathfinder

the +2 to stats is really more of a nostalgia thing. I liked that 3.5 stat adjustments were pretty much just double 2nd ed and I feel that the reasoning behind the extra plus 2 was just to make players less whiny about getting penalties to a stat. Characters need weakness to be flavorful. My...

D&D 3.x 3.5 E, older D&D and Pathfinder. What do D&D vets think of pathfinder

thanks for all the comments and ratings. I think PF may end up as a splat book in my 3.5 game. I like some of the changes (item creation, CMB, easier challange creation) but others seem not so good (Wizards being able to spam L-0 spells, races getting an extra +2 to stats...etc). Seems best...

    3.X essential books

I couldnt agree with this more and honestly I thought I Was the only one who felt this way. I love 3.5 but I HEAVILY restrict player's options with splat books. WOTC was always trying to 1up themselves with player material because players are 80% of buyers. it's 1 DM to every 4-6 players...
