Started up a Solomon Kane campaign just yesterday. Most of my group seems excited about it. The rest are willing, so a good start for a group of 7.

Traveller, CORTEX, the D6 system (now available as free PDF's), and a modified Alternity can handle "space soap opera" very well. Savage Worlds has a good supplement that could also handle it very well.
