    D&D 4E Are Long-Term Charm Effects Gone in 4E?

Long term charm is now mostly the domain of NPC on NPC. I guess if their was a good plot driven reason to have a character charmed, then you could just make the power up that is affecting them.

D&D 4E How long are your 4e combats taking, real time?

Our Combats take between 15 minutes and an hour, depending on whether we break out the grid and chits or just imagine placement and play. The 'Just imagine placement' and and play is always fastest and fun.

DDI Subscribers: Are you satisfied with your subscription?

Very satisfied. Players love it, I love it. I am also very satisfied with Asmor's Monster Maker. That could be just a good a value as the whole DDI if he could code the monster powers into it!

    Castle Whiterock conversion thoughts?

Damn!! $5.00?? Great!! Castle Whiterock would make a great 4e adventure. I Ran it in 3.5e up until 4e came out. They had got down to about the third level. I wish I would have converted it over and kept playing with 4e. It is not on my scope now. :( Conversions should be real easy.

advice to anyone still wondering if they should purchase a DDI subscription today

I love it. Easy to use, I get Dragon and Dungeon (and when I subscribed to those back in the early to mid 80's early 90's I paid just about as much as the DDI subscription), plus an encompassing rules compendium, and a GREAT character generator. It's hard to get beyond that value.

Stealth in Combat Question (my players please do not read)

Keep the rules as they are. Give the monsters a power. Camouflaged Sniper (at-will, standard action) If the attacker has superior cover, it can make a ranged basic attack with combat advantage without revealing it's position. If the characters, on their turn, want to make opposed...

    Getting rid of treasure distribution

I had my players make wish lists for treasure too, and that was tedious for them and I. So last session when I felt they should find a magic item, I looked at one character and said, " Look up an item of no more than fourth level. That is what you find." Cheesy, but easy!

Monetary Treasure - Does it scale with the size of the party?

I took the monetary treasure per level, plus the value of the magic items for the level and summed them into 1 monetary figure. I then divided this amount by the experience your typical party would earn that level x 5. What this gave me was an average gp per xp handed out. With the math, now...

Monetary Treasure Parcels - Gold for your thought.

I want to stick with the treasure as written in the DMG, but with a mixed level party that also varies from session to session by the number of players, coupled with the fact that I do not 'plan' an entire levels worth of encounters (I use random encounters, and set place encounters) makes...

    D&D 4E 4e with 7/8/9 players

My typical game group is 5-12 players for 4e, with 6-8 being average. A lot of socializing goes on and can distract from the game. We let them know it. I whistle loudly and several other players say "Hey lets quiet down and concentrate on the adventure." It works. Sometimes we have to do...

    Things I don't like about the 4E DMG - part 1 of 1000

Ohhh! OHhhhh!! Whats number 2? and 3?! If they are as good as the first, I will subscribe to the rest. -Waiting with baited breath

Patching up the PHB Wizard At-Wills

I added a spell specialization feat for Magic Missile. It ups it's damage by 1 dice. Works good. Player Happy, I am happy (not out of line with other at-wills or specialized weapon damage).

100 ways to know that you're a roleplayer!

When you refer to interactions with customers at work as 'Random Encounters', and sometimes refer to people getting 'initiative' on you.

    Combat is different

I do not 'get' how skill challenges work, so I am trying them how I interpret them to work. Our last session, they had a random encounter. Instead of everyone making perception rolls to get 1 result (you notice them), I had them all make perception rolls to see how well they noticed them...
