The Op's group sounds exactly like mine. I was frustrated by it for a while, and then just decided to go with it. All of us are adults with jobs and responsibilities. The game session is a social event, so I just let it be social.

This is exactly what I was gonna say as well. A great post about a positive gaming experience is turned into an opportunity for a few people to try and convince others the one right way to play. To the OP and others that have posted examples of good, fun games: Keep up the good work!

One other clarification. I noticed in one of the ampersand articles (I think it was last month) that they mentioned that the terrain sets are also packaged in a box, and the back of the box has a printed grid so it could be used as raised terrain. I like it a lot.

As a DM I have been trying to encourage this type of description as well. If the player just does the "I hit and do <blagh> damage." I might give it a quick description of what happened to the target. I have a difficult group for this, as two are casual players and new to the group, and...
