    D&D 5E (2014) So what % of D&D IS combat?

Oh Lord, I remember those days. I can't do games that long anymore. Hour and a half to 2 hours is about all we -all of us - want to invest.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D 90% Combat?

I think many tables would be better off by ignoring the dice. I have seen way too many instances where the DM asks for a roll - it ends poorly because of d20 - and something that should have been simply logical to know or interpret is ruined. I think part of this is due to that skills are...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e - Tales of the Old Margreve (Roll20) Campaign Recaps

@THEMNGMNT I haven't even posted the Curse of Strahd thread - and I might not - but we just reached Session #70 in that campaign and they just reached Castle Ravenloft, so there could be 10 sessions left. If I ever did post it, I might just do the whole thing at once and let people read it at...

It is nearly caught up to as far as we've made it.

D&D General Help me make a snake-themed dungeon

Thessalhydra. Did that make the transition to 5e?

D&D General Help me make a snake-themed dungeon

Another grotesquely favorite of mine is the yuan ti anathema, that thing with snake head arms. It's creepy.

    D&D 5E (2024) What do you want & expect to see in 2024's 5.5e?

Good point. They wouldn't make such sweeping changes so soon that would invalidate recent books. I do think it will be minor and far less than the 3.0 to 3.5 transition. Whenever they announce 6e I think they're going to come out and say it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Will you buy 5.5e/6e PHB?

I think you are right. They'll capitalize on the anniversary to rev up sales and interest, but the rules aren't going to change much.

    D&D 5E (2024) Will you buy 5.5e/6e PHB?

That's what I was thinking. A good DMG that actually has great ideas and alternate subsystems, and not a blanket catchall "give advantage or disadvantage." Ugh. We will never see the likes of Gary's original DMG again, we are far too jaded, but that's what I would love, a massive sprawling...

    D&D 5E (2024) Will you buy 5.5e/6e PHB?

If they significantly change concentration spells and even the concentration mechanic. I don't like how it is a Con roll; I can't tell you how many times my monster's spells are ruined goddamned immediately because they can't maintain it after getting wailed on. I prefer a Concentration skill...

    RPG Evolution: The Half-Edition Shuffle

Huh. Swapping the bonus for a reaction. Never considered that. I wonder how that would affect gameplay? It would certainly influence OA the most. Is there a feat that gives you extra reactions?

    D&D 5E (2014) Spells that have disappeared...

I agree; the 5e version of stoneskin is extremely boring.

    RPG Evolution: The Half-Edition Shuffle

I'm the DM, and we who played 3.5 still regularly say Reflex and Fortitude save! The new 5e players just roll with it; they know what we mean.

    RPG Evolution: The Half-Edition Shuffle

And I personally miss some of the 3e tropes, but not the complexity of the math. I've been playing the hell out of Wrath of the Righteous, and when you have a computer crunching all the ridiculous math and fiddly perks, it is a gloriously fun game.

    That tactic worked extremely well.

    RPG Evolution: The Half-Edition Shuffle

Someone on Enworld had posted a revised 5e feat compilation that was really well done. We have been using that a few years now. It didn't change every single feat (leaving the ones alone that are generally accepted as good and not broken, like Warcaster) but they folded many of the lesser...
