Pretty sure I remember a mention from somewhere on the Paizo boards that UC will have several "tiers" of firearm availability, which will have an impact on both the cost and the stats (misfire chance, magazine size, reload times, etc.) of guns across the board.

For some reason - and I am having real trouble figuring out what that reason is, let alone articulating it - the theme feats don't appeal to me in the slightest. Maybe it's because, while I appreciate what they do, I don't want the PCs to be locked into those roles, and not taking a theme feat...

But the only reason why it has to specify what direction the attack is coming from is because it's not the caster making the attack. Attacks made the caster are automatically and self-evidently coming from the caster's direction - it's only when that is not the case that you have to specify.

I would honestly rule against you, sadly. The phrase "You can use this... to make a bull rush" in the spell indicates to me that you are in fact the bull-rusher, and are thus limited to pushing things away from you. (The water is the weapon, you remain the attacker, in other words.) The spell...

Can you make any push for Ultimate Magic? (especially now that it's on the PRD?) Because what you really need sounds like the empyreal sorcerer...

Or you can grab the Raging Vitality feat, which gives you an extra hit point per level while raging and lets you keep raging after you fall unconscious.

Ah, okay. That explains at least part of it. Well, a lot of it depends on build, of course, but a "reasonably" optimized* Pathfinder ranger by 5th level would probably have a composite (+2) bow and the Strength to back it up, a +1 bow, and be using Deadly Aim for a -2 to hit and a +4 to...

In addition, the rules to specify that the archetypes are not different classes, so you cannot multiclass between them any more than you can multiclass between, say, a cleric of Desna and a cleric of Cayden Cailean. So that's out too.

Every time you say that, it looks wrong to me. Would you mind posting your build? I ask because I would expect a 5th level archer ranger to be doing something more like 1d8+7 or so per shot, and I wonder if maybe something is getting overlooked somewhere.

The four announced archetypes are the exact same list as the ones that were "sneak-previewed" in the Carrion Crown Player's Guide. The author of the guide, though, wrote on the Paizo site that those archetypes weren't a complete list, just the ones that seemed most suited to the Adventure Path...
