D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

Spent some time with the family. I've skimmed the last couple of pages. If I miss anything, just ask again. It probably isn't personal. Probably. Yeah. That works for me. I didn't know about this. I like the fact that there is no established Truth. There's just what each side believes. I...

D&D 5E (2014) I for one hope we don't get "clarification" on many things.

Remind me, how many pages of 1st and 2nd edition were devoted to entirely role playing things like Backgrounds? Thaumaturge.

    D&D 5E (2014) Disengage

the Jester is correct. "Squares" aren't a part of the base combat rules. Opportunity attacks occur when combatants leave the reach of other combatants. Note: this has implications for pole arms and their ability to control the battlefield. Thaumaturge.

    D&D 5E (2014) Disengage

The real problem with ruling Disengage only works when a character is withdrawing is more complex scenarios where a character is leaving one combatant to engage with another. If a goblin is adjacent to the fighter, uses Disengage, and moves to be adjacent to the wizard, is that ok? He's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Disengage

I'm not Syntallah, but I would guess: Cunning Action, Haste, or Action Surge. Thaumaturge.

    D&D 5E (2014) Disengage

You can approach creatures without provoking, no Disengage necessary. To leave from being adjacent to a creature you need to use the Disengage action or be attacked. If you use Disengage, you still have to move. You could be adjacent to an orc, Disengage, move to another orc, and then Action...

Many demons have resistance to non-magical weapons. Silvered weapons aren't mentioned. Generally, it looks like demons are immune to: cold, fire, and lightning. Devils are immune to: fire and poison. Perhaps an argument for Elemental Adept. Thaumaturge.

D&D 5E (2014) What do players spend their treasure on?

Raise dead. Later, resurrection. After that, true res. Thaumaturge.

The way I'll probably DM it is that modrons and slaadi hate each other. They'll kill each other on sight. Slaadi promote one version of their creation story, the one you mentioned, and the modrons promote the 5e MM story. The true is lost to time. Maybe the whole thing is some weird religious...

Some imps, when called as a familiar, have a telepathic bond with their master, can share senses, and can share magical resistance. It's a variant, and called out as something that happens as part of a Bargain. Thaumaturge.

D&D 5E (2014) [FR] Mount Hotenow, Thundertree, and Neverwinter

My sense is that he thought Dagnabbit was a funny and appropriate name for a dwarf. When TSR gave him a hard time, he made it a goal to sneak ridiculous names past his editor. He told his editor at the time that Pikel was pronounced "pike-el". The editor bought it. And here we are with a...

D&D 5E (2014) [FR] Mount Hotenow, Thundertree, and Neverwinter

His naming conventions came up too. He has a different perspective, obviously. But an early editor was fooled a couple of times, and now we're stuck with joke dwarf names. Thaumaturge.

D&D 5E (2014) [FR] Mount Hotenow, Thundertree, and Neverwinter

As an aside, during a seminar on storytelling in the Realms at GenCon, Salvatore mentioned he was writing the book, and WotC asked him to incorporate the Primordial and destroy Neverwinter. The Tome Show podcast feed has both FR storytelling seminars, and they are different enough to listen to...

Mind Blast is one of the three Int saves in the book. Failure means damage and stunned for a minute, reacting the save each round. Thaumaturge.

They are all neutral evil. EDIT: I think the variant is that you get the full imp and some magic resistance. But you're trading your soul for the bargain. Thaumaturge.

There are a couple of templates (half-dragon and vampire) that say what changes to make to a PC to give it the template. But there are no races with playable stats spelled out. I think it's not too difficult to reverse engineer something close, but that's what a DM would have to do. Thaumaturge.

And since we are on a slaadi roll, have there been control gems for slaadi in the past? Because there are, as a variant, now. If you rip out a control gem, you control the slaad. Thaumaturge.
