Rules Never Prevent RPing? (But Minis Seem To Do So?)

I read post after post after post in this thread, and I just don't get it. What do you people consider RPing to be within the context of combat? When I get in a fight, I start attacking people and try to maximize my tactical advantages. I try to avoid letting the enemies gang up on me, and...

    Favorite NPCs

Kyra ban Hightower. She was a nobleman's daughter with remarkable physical attributes (in all senses of the word, I s'pose), who left her boring life to become a thief. The first time the PCs met her, she was trying to lift some coin from them. Next time they saw her on the other side of the...

Is Helios Rising the Largest Sci-Fi Setting Book Ever?

I think you win on this one. I haven't seen any sci-fi setting books that even come close. (I'm eagerly anticipating that PDF, btw)

House Rule: Battle Queue instead of rounds

Looks pretty interesting, but I'll wait for someone who enjoys doing math to figure out whether or not it's broken with regards to TWF, flurry, and Rapid Shot.

Uh, I'm not quite dead yet, sir...

I like characters having a longer buffer. It just sucks when you roll low on that very first save, especially if you have a really high bonus.

Pledge of Tyranny (updated November 13)

Evendur turned to face the source of sound where Shirl was, even though he couldn’t see her there. “As far as I can tell, you are not standing right next to me, because I can reach out and feel only empty space there. And yet your voice is coming from right there. What I want you to do is...

Pledge of Tyranny (updated November 13)

Evendur and Shirl are in quite a fix right now. But exactly what has happened to them, and how do they escape? I challenge my readers to try to figure out on their own as I post somewhat smaller updates than usual!

    Silly House Rules

Some of the rules people are posting are table rules rather than house rules. :(

    Happy Birthday Raven Crowking!

You thought you could just ease on by this year. But I noticed who's turning the big 40 today. Don't worry, it only happens once... :] Have a good birthday! I hope your family isn't ribbing you too hard.:eek::p

    Silly House Rules

Yikes! I would suggest remedying this with a variant magic system. That, or getting them all back in line with a few applications of Ti Kwan Leap.

    Eric Noah's Info

*catches up from his last post on page 7, takes a deep breath, and plunges back in* *claps* It's so much fun for PCs to interact with their world like real people. Then when a combat starts and the players start thinking like... *gasp* people in a combat, suddenly people are up in arms about...

    Bye Monte!

Monte hasn't stopped cooking, he's just turned the stove down for a while to let things simmer and absorb flavour. :) I'll be keeping my eye out for threads to announce anything related to Monte Cook.

    Your own personal gaming terms...

Nerfbag (n): A PC who rolled really low ability scores, and always has to be given the best magic items just to survive. The PC who rolled the lowest scores out of all the party is always considered a nerfbag, but sometimes there can be more than one. Ninja (v): To sneak up on a target and...

    encouraging familiars

The main problem I've seen with familiars is that no one wants to stick with a core class just to make sure their familiar's stats don't fall behind. That's why I make familiar abilities based on caster level rather than class level.
