Eric's Annual Trip down Memory Lane

I wasn't here from the beginning, but I am grateful for this community and all the guys who made it possible right from the start. It's amazing to think it's been three years since I registered my account to post in a katana vs. bastard sword thread. :p Think of the memories we'll have this...

Do you regret the fact that you don't get to game as much as you would like?

Hell no. I'm running three sessions a week, average session length six hours. Mommy, make the world stop spinning so fast.

What is the “home base” for your party?

Any one of the above, depending on campaign. Currently, a townhouse in Chicago and a townhouse in northern LA in my two Urban Arcana games, and whatever tavern is in the town they're staying in for my D&D game.

The Dark Side? Hello, you silly goose, this is the Light Side! We should be welcoming Jimmy back from the darkness and evil.

    Wound / vitality system pros

This can work great, if done right. I've been using an armour-as-AC combined with class defense bonus mechanic in the D&D game I'm advertising in my sig. There are limits to how much of the class defense bonus you can get when wearing armour, so eventually it can be better at high levels for a...

Random Wilderness Encounters - How do you use them?

Or the fact that once every few hours, the PCs might encounter a grizzly when they're wandering around in the woods. Whoops. :]

Products to add to the reviews database

That would probably be good. Reviews moderators could just subscribe to that thread with instant email notification. Also, some of Sword's Edge Publishing's products in the database could use a bit of cleaning up; adding product descriptions, changing the title that defines the product...

    Wound / vitality system pros

My first d20 Modern game ever was a Starship Troopers meets Trigun meets Blue Gender game on Mars, right after d20 Modern was released. I used vitality/wounds and found that it made the game a lot grittier but also more cinematic. Characters learn to rely on armour to stay alive, and there's...

Random Wilderness Encounters - How do you use them?

Hey, that's pretty cool. Only 19 possibilities, and you don't have to piddle around with percentile-scale numbers. I think I'm gonna adapt this for randomly determining monster type in a random encounter. Two dice of varying size per region/dungeon section.

Random Wilderness Encounters - How do you use them?

I use wilderness encounters a lot. They're a great way to let the PCs earn XP to keep them up with the level I need them to be to run a progressive storyline. Not only that, but they make overland travel be dangerous at low levels, and they simulate the fact that those monsters are really out...

Pledge of Tyranny (updated November 13)

The ancient wizard led them through the door in which he had entered the room. Evendur and Shirl gasped as they noticed the hallway seeming to get longer and longer until it seemed of infinite length. Evendur looked behind them and wished he hadn’t. There was no door behind them, only an...
