Outside of a special gathering, I don't believe I've ever run or seen run any session with more than 9 players. The average for me has been 4 players. I don't expect that I'm typical.

That I'm not very different from you, William. My biggest issue was my professional life. In the past 10 years, it has become very stressful and it fills up most moments. In truth, some part of me is always thinking about some part of my work. And this is what split me away from D&D...

Hmm. Let's think about human nature for a minute. Someone tries something that you like. You would like to see more of this behavior. What should you do to incentivize them? To get the desired behavior to continue? This is not a test. And everyone reading this already knows the answer.:)

If I have learned anything after 40+ years in my own, rather technical profession, it is just this. Technology is wonderful. Science is fascinating. But people ... people matter. To get anything meaningful done, you need people -- often, lots of them. And the only way to pull them together...

A core game that's "very basic." And then "add-ons." I can live with that.

While I can't speak for any other old-schoolers, for me this is purely an emotional response. So much water has passed under the bridge since I first sat down to play this odd, new sort-of wargame. So many changes, so many editions ... and the passing of the founder. I guess it's like getting...

I have never had any luck when switching editions within a game or a campaign. I've learned to keep games/campaigns begun during an Edition within that Edition. That said, I don't see why any 4e-lover wouldn't feel completely comfortable beginning a new game today!
