Of Roads, and Rome, and the Soul of D&D

If you put your elephant in a box and leave it be -- it can be all of the things discussed here and so much more.:) Quantum Mechanics. It never fails to amuse me.

Mearls' Legends and Lore (or, "All Roads Lead to Rome, Redux")

Hmm. Seems I gave you XP too recently. So: Strong post; very strong, indeed. Kudos.

Ever see a Strengh 18/00 rolled legitimately?

You are either profoundly lucky ... or you have played a LOT of D&D!:D I've been at it for well over 30 years, but have only seen it twice. The first time it was my spouse ... my ridiculously lucky spouse. She rolled 2 18's, a 17, and a 16 for her character ... straight up rolls! And then...

Ryan Dancey - D&D in a Death Spiral

:DNot I. I've played (and loved) this old game since it first began. I haven't been able to make the leap to 4E, though I tried several times ... quite hard. But I'm still cheering for D&D, in whatever form and every form. D&D. Long may she reign.

What has Wizards been doing right?

Definitely, this. I bought the darn thing because I'm such a sucker for Ravenloft. Never thought I'd actually play it. But of course, I had to open it up ... look at everything ... fiddle with the minis. Then one of my daughters walked in. Discussion of minis followed, book was cracked...

Staggering photography from the largest cave in the world

I know of this place. You need a special suit to venture in, and you can't stay long even then. Quite stressful, even if beautiful.

Staggering photography from the largest cave in the world

If you love these, also look for references to Lecheguilla Cave in southern New Mexico. A fabulous place ... 'adventured' there in my youth (helped map it out, in the beginning). Kudos to PC for this link!

    Dungeon Master's Guide 3?

I HATE IT when the Internet glitches my XP!! Ahem. "I'll 'see' your DonutBorn Monk and 'raise' you my PizzaBorn Barbarian." There.:D

    Gothic Campaign Setting I'm considering

Hmm. Consider a brilliant young scientist-acolyte of the God of Light who has possibly just made a breakthrough -- a technical way to interfere or even entirely block the connection between the lesser gods and their arcane followers. That oughta stir things up.

Congrats to ENWorlder Fajitas - new staff writer for 'Leverage'

A million congratulations, youngster.:D You are now a fully professional ink-stained wretch. Stay calm and remember that the writer is the most underappreciated, yet most essential, element of the Hollywood creative scene.

    247 sessions, 15 years!

Ahem. Don't feel old just yet. You're still a whippersnapper!!:D

    247 sessions, 15 years!

Is it too late to contact the Guiness people? Can anyone boast anything comparable? I've gamed for over 40 years, and I can't even come close! EDIT: Yes ... I am quite old, thus the "prehistoric" in my sig-line. Some mornings, I wonder who that old fellow in the mirror is.

When Your Party Is Low On Food

Generally speaking, it is quite literally in poor taste. However, on the Isle of the Ape ... one does what one must to survive.

Mixed Signals from Wizards of the Coast

"You must spread ..." As usual, you are both kind and particularly observant.

    Where's my D&D Essentials?

Sorry, Guv'nor. Doesn't seem fair.:hmm: I got mine from a plain old ordinary FLGS. Nothing special about it. Only the initial books are available around "here" (northern virginia), yet. Perhaps you should come to an agreement with a Forumite living closer to the source? That way, you'd...

My playtest of new Mage (Essentials) spells

I'm still lamenting the "death" of fireball ... after all this time.:(

    What Makes A Great Man?

A great man, or woman for that matter, is someone who has made a great impact upon the world. Peacemaker? Conqueror? Good? Bad? Doesn't matter. In this, we are the victims of the historians. If your name isn't in the history books, any impact you actually had will be ... forgotten. Or...

Why is the original red box so special

I can't use the standard reason, as the original Red Box is not how I started in this game. However, I distinctly recall buying it for my newborn son when it first came out. And that, to me, is easily reason enough to remember it fondly.

Storminator rides off into the sunset

I'll happily echo this.:D I've read your posts with interest. I hope you'll reconsider, when it's appropriate, and at least return occasionally. That's about all I have time for, myself.

TSR, WotC and Electronic Support: a loveless marriage

"You must spread ..." So ... I'll just put it here. Sarcastic -- but essentially 'spot on.'
