Thanks for the update. I thought it was clear from Chris' Twitter posts that it was a layoff, but at least now we know it was an elimination of positions.
I totally agree. LMoP is such a well designed adventure. It's essentally a mini-sandbox, with so many different options/paths. Reading through several different play-through write ups and watching a few play throughs on YouTube, it's great how different it is for each group. I really hope WotC...
Ah, wasn't sure. His Wikipedia page says he "...has worked for Wizards of the Coast", and his Twitter profile says "Writer, D&D storyteller, Dungeon Master, and proud owner of a Chiweenie named Milo", so it sounded like perhaps that was in the past.
Ok, I joined then posted to the FB group...confirmed that Expeditions are not available for home play, only public play. There was discussion of what constitutes public play in an earlier thread, and it was basically in-store, at a convention, special event, etc., as long as it's public.
I was under the impression the Expeditions adventures were only available for download if you sign up to host a session.
So, the Encounters adventures (ex: Hoard of the Dragon Queen) can be purchased and played in-home. Expeditions (ex: Defiance in Phlan, Secrets of Sokol Keep, etc.) are for...
The in-store games are going to be great for me soon. I bought my nephew the Starter Set for Christmas, but he has only one other friend interested in playing. So, I'll be bringing him (them?) to an in-store game. If they get really into it, hopefully they can convice another couple friends to...
Yes, and adventurers had to find those magic items, not walk into Magic R Us.
And nowhere did WotC say there are no magic items (including Potions of Healing). They said:
So you think the game might mechanically be playable. I guess we can tell people they can go ahead and buy the books then...
As Rune said, if you have advantage or an ally is next to the target. One minor thing, though, is it's technically not ANY attack: "The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon." But, since that covers the majority of weapons a rogue might be using for sneak attack, it's not going to be an...
Your response about the post about people reviewing the utility of the survey questions was ok, but would have been better had it contained an actual survey. 3 out of 5 stars.
Here's another way to measure success of a product. Sure, it's only one of many virtual tabletops, and many people don't use virtual tabletops, but it's also one of the largest (might be *the* largest, but I don't know for sure) virtual tabletops out there with lots of games going on...
As the someone who posted the amazon rankings, I don't think you got my post. It was a direct response to a post with an anecdote from a store owner about how PF was outselling 5e, therefore 5e launch hasn't been successful. My point was, that's not the case everywhere. It's great that Paizo...
A couple well-placed bits of tape work fine.
Her's the acrylic sheet I use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006QZ7JPW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Use black construction paper to cover the hidden areas, then remove as necessary to reveal. Also, if you're using fold-up grid maps, you may want to get a sheet of acrylic to go over it, otherwise you'll have trouble keeping minis upright around the creases.
I've noticed the adventures (Hoard and Tiamat) have been on the shelves a while, too. But not the PHB and DMG. Both sold out and were restocked, and both are now low again. MM not as much. I think they're still on their first stock of the MM...
Fair enough, but my experiences have been different. My local shops sold out of both the PHB and DMG in quick order, and their restock is now getting low as well.
And like I said before, online sales have been huge. The PHB has been in or around the top 100 on Amazon for 5 months. That's huge...
And you know this how? All three of the core rulebooks have been in the Amazon top 100 at one point, with the PHB still there 5 months after launch. They also sold out for a period at all local shops around here, and I've heard that was true most places. No official numbers, but everything...
I understand where you're coming from, but there are already quite a few 5e character creation videos on YouTube for those who need more help.
Another good way to learn is to try your hand at creation first, then re-create the same character using one of the several auto-calculating PDF...
