D&D 5E (2014) Can someone please explain to me why there are still no PDFs for 5e core books?

Technically you may be right, just as technically it was illegal to record an album you owned on vinyl to cassette so you you could listen to it in the car back in the day. Or for a more modern take, it may not technically be legal to rip your DVD and Blu-Ray movies to a hard drive for use in...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the point of gold?

Fair enough. Both games used 2e rules. I recently re-played BG on the iPad, and I'm currently re-playing BG2 (also on the iPad). I highly recommend both, even if they do have Magic-R-Us marts. ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Can someone please explain to me why there are still no PDFs for 5e core books?

I really think they want an all-encompassing tool, not merely PDF versions of the books. They want the digital rules, character generator, and more...but they had to start over at square one.

D&D 5E (2014) Can someone please explain to me why there are still no PDFs for 5e core books?

Do what the rest of us do: if you legally own the hard copy, go "find" a PDF version on the Internet. Fair use AFAIK. Just don't do so if you don't own the hard copy. I'll gladly pay for official digital copies if/when they're released, since the scans are a bit janky, but for now it's good enough.

D&D 5E (2014) 4th level Bard ability score increase: CHA, DEX, or CON? [5e]

My 5e Bard just hit 4th level. I've decided to take the ability score bump instead of a feat. Now I need to decide which one to bump, narrowed down to CHA, DEX, or CON. My current stats for each are: CHA: 18 DEX: 16 CON: 14 CHA Bump: Since Bard's use CHA as their spellcasting ability, this...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advantage / Disadvantage in 5e

Here are a couple links that may explain it better than I have attempted to: http://andrewgelman.com/2014/07/12/dnd-5e-advantage-disadvantage-probability/ http://onlinedungeonmaster.com/2012/05/24/advantage-and-disadvantage-in-dd-next-the-math/

D&D 5E (2014) I thought that I had seen a Range limit to the sneak attack with the Ranged Weapon, 30 feet

Here is Crawford's exact tweet: Let me change it for you: "The [sneak attack] is intended to work with ranged weapons. A [hand axe] is a melee weapon even when you throw it." He was giving his ruling on RAW regarding how melee weapons are counted when thrown. Sorry if you are unable to see...

D&D 5E (2014) I thought that I had seen a Range limit to the sneak attack with the Ranged Weapon, 30 feet

Agreed. But the proper response when you don't like RAW (or even RAI) is to change it to something you do like, not to pout and say you're dumping the game altogether and crying that you don't like an interpretation of RAW.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Arctic Campaign and 5th edition

We briefly had a homebrew arctic campaign back in the 1e days...it's been too long so I don't remember all the details. I do remember we changed the armor table. There was no plate armor, and "heavy fur" counted as an armor type. If you had high enough strength, you could even wear chain...

D&D 5E (2014) Can thrown weapons be used for sneak attack damage?

Stop being petulant. Crawford gave his RAW ruling. YOU'RE FREE TO USE RAI, RAF, OR A HOUSE RULE. The creators of 5e, including Crawford, explicitly state the rules are guidelines and the DM can modify as necessary.

D&D 5E (2014) I thought that I had seen a Range limit to the sneak attack with the Ranged Weapon, 30 feet

Wow, such drama. You're picking up your toys and going home? Crawford was giving his ruling based on RAW. But, as the 5ed rules explicitly state, rules are really just guidelines. DO WHATEVER YOU WANT AT YOUR TABLE. When you're DM-ing, rule that weapons with the thrown property can do sneak...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advantage / Disadvantage in 5e

Sorry, but your math/assumptions are incorrect. There is never a "+19" benefit for advantage. Advantage is *always* the probability of hitting a specific target or higher when rolling two dice. I've already posted those probabilities. The probability is a percentage, but we can give it as an...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advantage / Disadvantage in 5e

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. You originally said: I countered with: So, not sure what you're trying to say about comparisons and first die... The odds of getting at least a specific target when throwing two dice are the odds - there is no first die and second die. The odds are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advantage / Disadvantage in 5e

Yes, but if you need a 15 on the roll instead of 16, you're better off with advantage (+4.2). ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) Advantage / Disadvantage in 5e

The link I provided gives the percent chance of rolling a particular number *or higher* if rolling two dice and choosing the highest. That's precisely what advantage is. The average bonus I calculated is just that: an average. Your target number won't always be the same. Yes, it's different for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Hoard of Dragon Queen out-of-print?

Highly unlikely. More likely is it's back ordered and the store owner mis-spoke.
