Who's applying for a job at Fantasy Flight Games?

And hockey, can't forget hockey, of both the professional and collegiate natures...I hear HS hockey is a big deal, too, but that may be more state-wide. You can't really talk about sports in Minnesota without mentioning hockey. The airport's quite nice as well, but I've spent way too much...

    Exploding toads puzzle German scientists

My co-worker pointed that out to me on the BBC site yesterday. We both agreed that we'd like to see footage of an exploding toad. I'm not sure my imagination can conjure up the wonder it must be...

Tell me about languages in your game

Interesting comments thus far. I remember when I first got into fantasy (some 12-13 years ago, now) being somewhat confused about the 'common' language. I think it's useful in game terms, though I think I'd like it more like a Latin language than just the language everyone speaks...somewhat...

    Reigning in Skills

Hmmm...glad to see I'm not the only one feeling that skills can get out of hand. I've thought about it, but can't say I've come up with anything better. I like how you've got the attribute modifier built into the equation, to help limit exploding skill stats. I've also considered just...

    Promethus.. WOW

Wow. It looks and sounds, dare I say it, wicked cool! As with many of these things one wonders about its ultimate practicality. Still nice to see some exciting space projects still kicking around. :)

Genius! That was awesome! Nostalgia, indeed...

    Who cares?

I'm pretty much willing to play just about anything. I find that if I play any particular system too much, I get bored with it and want to play something else. I'm currently burning to play SR, but because I'm stuck in a d20 group, that doesn't seem likely to happen without me dropping them...

    Gaming and your Significant Other

My girlfriend knows about it, but doesn't play. She's sat through two of my SR sessions and parts of one D&D session. She doesn't really like fantasy and thus thinks D&D is silly (as well as having magic in SR), but she has expressed some interest in playing SR, so I'm working on the...

    A Fallen Angel

"This is folly. A chase after shadows and smoke. We have just received word from Citadel Refuge. That is our current objective. Now is not the time to run off after illusions, hoping the impossible. There are too many people relying on us and too much to do. I will not have anything to do...

What games or game systems do you miss playing?

I didn't put this down mostly because the system was so annoying. I love the universe and I'd love to play a Robotech campaign, but I'd need to find something better than the old Palladium system (although I love my books and am looking to finish off my collection :p ). I'm not sure a d20...

    Are you City or Country?

City through and through, though I've lived in suburbia as well, but it wasn't really country. I have nothing against the country or the people there, having had plenty of experience with them when I lived in Saskatchewan. But I'm a city boy through and through. :)

    Conan or Conan O'Brien?

Depends on what I feel like playing, plus what I roll, generally. I like to play against stereotypes (halfling warriors, weak as dirt half-orc mages), but have, just as often played up to them as well (dwarven clerics, dumb half-orc monks), with a little tweak here and there.

    Youre favorite style of Elf

As mentioned above, I like elves to be wild creatures. I also like them to other than forest-dwellers. Nomadic prairie elves I think are my favorite, but I don't think I've run into them outside my own creations. But seriously, who could turn down a fine, elven curry?

    Apt. Very apt, indeed.

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

That's what I figured. That might be more along the lines of what we see in our ships of the line, though, yes?

    A Fallen Angel

"To what benefit, Archonus? There is nothing to be gained by your walking the shadowpath. Nothing for our side. We would lose a fine warrior and a budding leader. The enemy would gain an ally. Even were you to return to us, you would not be the same, you could not simply reassume your...

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

That's pretty much what I had in mind, though I'd prefer our hulls be seaworthy and durable from the get-go. ;)
  18. AIM-54

Because there's more motion in the ocean...

The later version bearing that name is the one in Baltimore Harbor, IIRC. Depending on the final solution to propulsion (which is ultimately your call), it may even be desirable to maintain some sail capability as a backup. Probably less necessary in the case of a technological solution, but...

What is your favorite new D&D classes?

Scout, without question. Back in 2E I worked on making such a class, but I really like how it came out in Complete Adventurer. The 'skirmish' ability (I think that's what it's called) is a thing of beauty. :)

What games or game systems do you miss playing?

Let's see... Call of Cthulhu: Haven't played it since the mid-90's when I was in high school. We never did the creepy, really, but we did do the go-crazy and stay alive as long as you can type one-shots. Immensely fun! Mechwarrior: Played both the 2nd and 3rd editions a bit, but we had...
