I think the ultimate value of DDI will be determined by how often extras are added. If I get a new class with its paths, a new race, and some interesting monsters a month at a minimum I will be fairly pleased with the service.

Just wanted to point out that D20 modern did indeed have Prestige classes in addition to the Base and Advanced classes. Each one was just a more focused concept than the category which came before.

Three books per setting makes me happy since it will allow me to keep up with the settings without getting bogged down with too many books, as well as freeing up WotC's schedule to allow more settings to come out.

This discussion just reminded me of the people I knew who refused to buy the phb, since the SRD was free for 3.x. It always annoyed me that they were unwilling to spend the money to support the game line they spent so much time playing.

Seems like it would be safe to ditch the ranged and melee boxes due to the powers' variety.

I would most likely download , and no matter what I am still buying. Only reason I would download is to kick off the game earlier. Not having anything to run since I know that 4th ed will usurp it is making a stale game environment for my group.

They have been saying that certain books were going to get electronic 4th ed updates for awhile. It was part of their transition strategy to lead into the new edition without having to scrap their later 3.5 books. Don't expect this treatment for too many books.

I like the concept of a gunslinger, and this one does seem like a good start, even though it is very similar to the ranger. May want to give it something other than Hunter's Quarry to make it stand out (even if you keep it with the same exploits)

Maybe make powers based around aid another... I know I was doing that when I was a roustie.

Having been a roustabout this class really makes no sense to me. It would be like naming a class Medic and have all his powers be about dealing damage.
