Best Adventure for 1st Level PCs?

For 3e D&D, I would recommend: DCC0 -- Legends are Made, Not Born DCC2 -- The Lost Vault of Tsathzar Rho DCC28 -- Into the Wilds DCC29 -- The Adventure Begins I've only used DCC2 myself (I used a modified version of it to start my last 3e campaign 2 years ago), and highly recommend it...

    3.5 vs Rolemaster

I quite liked Rolemaster 2nd edition (and MERP even more, although the system was quite inappropriate for Middle-earth). I'm far less fond of the current version of Rolemaster (RMSS/RMFRP), as I tried GMing it around 1999 and gave up after a couple of sessions. Today, if I were in the mood for...

DCC #35 Contents and First Impressions

Thanks for the overview! I'm looking forward to getting this. I'm debating whether to use this setting or the Wilderlands for my next campaign. Decisions, decisions ...

    Judges Guild revival

In addition, C&C Wilderlands material will be (largely) unaffected by the announcement of 4e D&D (unlike 3.5e material), which is likely within the next couple of years.

    Judges Guild revival

    Well said!

    Judges Guild revival

This is false. The only things you need to do to make C&C material compatible with 1/2e AD&D (or vice versa) is change the ACs and movement rates. That's it. Comprendez-Vous?

    What use for OSRIC?

Some people would like new modules/material for OAD&D. OSRIC is a tool to meet that demand. It is not the only tool (C&C is also quite OAD&D-compatible), but it is one. No kidding. What's with the unwarranted personal attack? :\

Thank you for that very constructive and insightful contribution.

    Judges Guild revival

This is great news, in my opinion. The Wilderlands and C&C seem like natural partners, and this new product line can only help both JG/AG and TLG. If I ever manage to run a C&C tabletop campaign again, it will almost definitely be set in the Wilderlands.

[Old Timers] Opinions on the Dungeon Crawl Classics modules and 'old school vibe'.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned 'Legacy of the Savage Kings' yet. That's a great module, as is 'Lost Vault of Tzathzar Rho'. In addition to those two, I'm digging DC0 ('Legends are Made, Not Born') and DCC29 ('The Adventure Begins'). DCC28 ('Into the Wilds') has a strong 'B2-Keep on...

    Tetsujin28 passed away

I'm shocked and saddened. I corresponded a bit with Tets about 1.5 years ago, when I was living in San Francisco for a time, and almost met up with him. Now I really regret that I didn't take that opportunity. I'll definitely miss his posts.

No, not angry. I'm not sure why you got that impression. If anything, I was amused. :)

    Back to the future

I'm not going to apologise for pointing out the unwarranted assumptions in your 'query', viz. your assumption that RPGs are akin to automobiles, and thus OD&D must be a 'Model T' in contrast to 3e's '2006 automobile'. I find that to be an absurd notion. OD&D and 3e are quite different games...

OSRIC: something for the old schoolers

    That's a great cover! :D

How do you like your adventures - focused or freeform?

3 I think the DM should arrange the campaign to be as 'freeform' as possible (perhaps include 3-4 adventure hooks for the players to consider). As things progress, the decisions and actions of the player characters give focus and direction to the campaign.

    Back to the future

It's always amusing when people confuse their subjective preferences for objective facts. :) And moralising one's subjetive preferences is even more amusing. ("...hard work and sacrifice"?!)

    Perhaps as a citadel? :uhoh:

    Remember Judges Guild?

Is this even a rumour? I thought it was pretty clear that at least one of the two 'announcements' would not involve Necromancer.

    The Tenets of GM Mastery

Is there some kind of esoteric meaning that you're expecting us to glean from these exoteric passages? If so, that's just too Straussian for me. :\
