Hi folks. Just to remind that voting ends tomorrow (Sunday 9th) so if you haven't voted yet please consider doing so. If you have - and irrespective if it was for me or not - thank you for participating in the ENnies process.
And a fascinating process it has been, too. Best bit has been...
Hello, I'm Megan. I've been having a great time role-playing for over 30 years, so maybe it's time to put something back, hence standing for ENnie Judge 2010.
Why me? Best way to help you good people decide if I'd make a good Judge is for you to see how I look at games... I'm a teacher in 'real...
I just voted for Vecna's removal - fellow just isn't a deity in my book. Jumped up little toe-rag!
St Cuthbert is next on the hit list. Did you know that Durham University in the UK actually has a St Cuthbert's College? How the D&D players keep a straight face I don't know... I had a serious...
A given feat, spell, weapon, whatever, will be the best for a particular situation, but rubbish in other situations. For example, if you have a magical item that allows you to walk on lava unharmed, it's very useful if you happen to be near a volcano that erupts on you, but it's a pretty piece...
I've never used miniatures and probably never shall either as DM or player. I just don't find them anything but confusing and a distraction from what is going on in the game.
For most of my role-playing life I have written my own material, so by now the D&D setting is extremely detailed... it is only recently that I have even looked at the wealth of material other people have written, and I'm finding it fascinating to now explore the Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk and...
I find that 'Bluff' is probably the most useless skill in mechanical terms.
If you want to bluff someone, it should be down to your role-playing.
As a DM, I would never allow a character to bluff his way past one of my NPCs on a die-roll, he needs to come up with a good story! I, on the other...
I can see them, thank you Piratecat, but the polls are closed and the threads are locked... and were when I posted the original message you responded to!
Did you only run them for 24 hours? Busy interviewing new students, didn't happen to drop by yesterday!
On the PDF question - the main problem I find is having to look in a separate place. I don't know about other folks, but it is the CONTENT of a product that is of primary interest, not the...
This problem appears to be unresolved, I've just attempted to post some news... without success :-(

I don't understand the question!!!
Of course I get on with the people I role-play with, but I don't often meet with them except for the purpose of having a game (unless someone wants their computer fixing!).
On the other hand I don't 'socialise' much at all, it's not an activity that I enjoy...
I use a d10 the most... or to be correct, two of 'em!
A percentage is a) the most intuitive way of assessing the chance of something happening and b) capable of generating any die roll called for with a minimal amount of mental arithmetic.
In fact, for several years I only carried 2d10 and...
As I generally read reviews to find out what is in a particular product, I also tend to write reviews the same way. I feel that if I can give a clear picture of what is there, that will give a potential purchaser the best guide as to whether the product will be of use to his campaign - or not...
Perhaps there is a paladin around who has managed to get hold of one of these books, has realised just how evil it is, and is now ALSO hunting for them with the intent of destroying them. Your players may think this is a good idea and help him, or may be reluctant to see them destroyed when they...
I have been sitting here all week wondering whether or not to take my first attempt at becoming an ENNIE judge.
My name is Mexal, although some folks may know me as Megan Robertson, and I have been role-playing since 1977, generally a couple of times a week face-to-face plus plenty of PBeMs. By...
Do not fret... Gen Con UK will be back in 2004 :-)
I'm not going to say any more just yet... But will keep folks posted as things develop.
Hugs and kisses,
Mexal.
B5 CSC in the Pipeline
I've been talking with Mongoose, and there will be a B5 RPG CSC (coordinated shared campaign or 'living' campaign). Not much in the way of details yet - we still have to decide on a name, but if you are interested please get in touch!
And so it begins...
