    D&D 5E (2014) Crawford on Stealth

Sorry, I forgot to add my mental clause of "As far as I remember".

    D&D 5E (2014) Two vs. thousands

Death+resurrection sounds (marginally) better than Orc enslavement, IMO. I would probably petition for the Adventurers to be paid half their normal reward, on the grounds that they technically did not save the hostages.

    D&D 5E (2014) Crawford on Stealth

I like where he mentions that you only reveal yourself "when you hit or miss with an attack". I have seen a lot of people on here say that revealing yourself to attack automatically gets rid of hidden, so you get no benefit. I didn't even notice the passage he mentions in the Combat section.

useless for Perception maybe. By RAW, the other skills don't have "Passive" versions, so Reliable Talent still applies to those.

D&D 5E (2014) Expert Weapon Damage (a simple thing, really)

I am thinking of the classic stories of True Masters, characters who have receded from the limelight, despite once being known as the Best with their chosen weapon. They are invariably found by a young up-and-coming hero who wants to learn their craft, at which point they often discover they...

D&D 5E (2014) Upcoming Kickstarter for a Deep, Thick Magic Item Compendium

Sounds awesome. If I had money, I would be totally willing to look into helping kickstart. As it is, I will quite likely add it to my short list of 5E wants, once it comes out.

D&D 5E (2014) Expert Weapon Damage (a simple thing, really)

I would allow taking it multiple times, but I wouldn't allow changing one you already took. It seems odd that one might forget how to be a master with a weapon, or only be able to master a single weapon at a time.

D&D 5E (2014) What sorts of things are you working on? (3PP or personal use homebrew)?

Front and center right now is my cleric changes thread, making it more Warlock like. Short rest casting, and Invocations.

D&D 5E (2014) Expert Weapon Damage (a simple thing, really)

I have been leaning towards giving him Expertise with a single weapon choice, adding Proficiency to their attack rolls. I could see doing this instead, or even as well. So, a champion fighter can choose to be an Expert with a Sword, and gain x2 prof to-hit, and a bonus to damage, although I...

D&D 5E (2014) Bladesinger vs. Valor Bard vs. Bladelock

I just realized that I am basically derailing this into another "Make Blade act better" Thread. Not my goal, I still genuinely want to see the three compared without Bias. Only problem is, there are a lot of X-Factors like Healing spells on the Bard, or Different Invocation options on the...

D&D 5E (2014) Bladesinger vs. Valor Bard vs. Bladelock

I think they should have a basic extra attack built in, but agree that a bunch of their stuff should be in invocations. If they had a few different defense-focused invocations, for varying armor types, they would be able to make the choice of only grabbing the Light-armor (Armor of shadows in...

D&D 5E (2014) Bladesinger vs. Valor Bard vs. Bladelock

I am not trying to make them the fighter or Barbarian, that is why I am comparing them to each other instead of those two. As is, it seems like there is one that turns out better than the other two, pretty reliably, and one that is worse if you don't make the right choices (Though those choices...

D&D 5E (2014) Bladesinger vs. Valor Bard vs. Bladelock

Ah, you are right. I was just skimming, so I only saw the +1 part at the end.

D&D 5E (2014) Bladesinger vs. Valor Bard vs. Bladelock

All Full casting classes with a little melee, so they should be roughly equal. Bard has a lot of support on his spell list, so he should probably be tankiest (as he is with his proficiencies). Bladesinger should probably be the lightest, since he has the most flexibility in his spell list. That...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

The two classes for comparison are Bladesinger wizard and Valor Bard. All three are Full-caster classes with a little bit of melee mixed in. But Blade singer and Valor Bard both get an Extra attack automatically, and Bard gets the Tankiest proficiencies with Medium armor and Shields, as well as...

D&D 5E (2014) Spells and Extra Attack Balance

For me personally, my reasons were 1) I like 5E, and don't have experience with other RPGs. Also don't feel like buying and learning something new when I can just adapt what I have. 2) The design challenge is fun. Homebrewing and tweaking the rules is much more fun than going out and paying...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attacking on an ally's space

FWIW, I read "End your move" as in you run out of movement/end your turn without using all of your movement, not that your attack breaks the move. By the same ruling, I would allow a monk to run on water, pull off an attack on an enemy as he runs by, then continue running. Or allow an Aracockra...

D&D 5E (2014) Help me design a Plane of Time

That sounds like fun, though you would need some way to stop it from being an actual grind for the players. I would probably include a lot of contingencies on the battle field. When they die the first time, they didn't make it far enough to trigger any. The second time, they make better choices...

D&D 5E (2014) Anyone else think the Bard concept is just silly?

Some people do see it as that integral to the bard. It is the same as the Warlock issue* I see come up a lot, where people think Warlocks and their patrons can only be evil, or at least not-good, even though it is entirely possible to make a good Warlock/Patron. Some people want to keep their...

D&D 5E (2014) Help me design a Plane of Time

If you make it a web, I would make the Spider the Good NPC, who is attempting to repair the threads. An Entropy lord, hell bent on destroying time, is terrorizing History, thanks to the opening provided by your Heroes. They have to defeat, or at least fend off, the Entropy lord while the spider...
