By "Back" I simply meant "If the DM doesn't want Ballista either", not in reference to a specific time period. And by "replace" I meant in the story above, not in the mechanics. There should be separate mechanics for Ballista and Cannons, but the story above reads like it's from an older time...

Have not read the rest of the thread, but I am considering giving either Fighter himself, or just Champion fighters, expertise in a chosen weapon. That would make them truly the "Best Fighter", I think. Anyone wanna do the math on what that would do to their hit-chance over time? I am not good...

That is an easy fix. Replace all mentions of "Cannons" with "Ballista". Unless the DM wants to go even further back, in which case your example of just having archers would work fine.

The example requires you to be the one swinging the hammer, from inside the refrigerator. The point is, if you feel an impact when you punch the inside of the sphere, you will feel an impact when you fall 50 feet in the sphere. If you don't feel a punching impact, there shouldn't be a fall impact.

Funny, I can't imagine ruling that way. If it comes up, I would always tell the players it is like hitting a wall. Nothing else make sense to me. So, for me, yes to falling damage.

I would lean closer to the fever killing them in Xd6 days, where X is their con modifier. That one guy in the first(Or second?) season that was digging graves hung on for a good number of days. Though I like the round count, only for the disease "Setting". 1d6 rounds before the disease sets...

Aside from the exploit mentioned earlier (Make elixirs, short rest, make elixirs, repeat as many time as you want) What is broken about Warlock getting a 2d4+2 spell, that isn't even at will? How much healing can a 1st level War Cleric pump out per long rest? I am guessing it is more than 6d4+6...
