Uakari - singing sloth people of the woods

That attack sequence has traditionally required two abilities, linked in their descriptions: Pounce (Ex) linked to Jumping or generic movement, and Rake (Ex) linked to Pounce. I have yet to see that routine combined into one ability. - Devon

Hard to say. I'd estimate the craft DC to be about 20. Caster level.... that depends on whether we want to require the Craft Wondrous Item" feat... the minimum caster level for that should be adequate, as would the minimum caster level for the spells required. - Devon

Uakari - singing sloth people of the woods

I think it looks great so far. I'm not experienced in balancing ECLs for creating PCs, but this seems more powerful than a human. Granted, there may be some mathematics in balancing their stat modifiers which I haven't fully internalized. - Devon

Uakari - singing sloth people of the woods

I checked the SRD Animals listings and Brachiation wasn't among the primates' abilities. Either I hallucinated its existence, or it popped up in one of the Monsters of Faerun. It could have been given to the Su-Monster as well, but I'm inclined to believe I just made it up. My apologies. - Devon

    Living Caltrops

You know, I forgot to factor in some things (like that it has no arms and no legs) so one could make the cost something like: 1000 gp per Warden Jack (20 xp, 50 gp body cost) I'm fudging the body cost, because in the overall scheme, it affects little except what an artificer is paid to make...

    Living Caltrops

Hi, Boz, I applied the Shield Guardian's basic calculation, and came up with a cost of 2400 gp, 48 xp (100 gp for the body) per Warden Jack. I also tried to replicate this construct in the Encyclopedia Arcane: Constructs system, and had trouble, eventually coming up with a cost of 13,750 gp...

Uakari - singing sloth people of the woods

I think it's an entertaining concept. I would suggest that their climb speed be about 30 ft or so (I'm not too savvy on modern sloths, however, that may be a conservative suggestion). If they're supposed to be wonderful swingers, they may be able to get a Brachiation ability (IIRC what some...

new creature for review - Kylonoderm

It was actually a toss-up for me, Krishnath. I could see both ways as appropriate -- one, it's a jumble of animal parts (beast) with a strange power (magical beast), but it is very strange, which may mark it as an aberration. In the end, I chose 'magical beast' because it got a more...

    new undead - the porthaunt

Hi, folks, The way I've written up Gaze of the Deep and Drowning Gaze, is it clear that the first ability is like your standard gaze attack that can affect anyone within eye contact, whereas the latter effect is a specific, targeted gaze attack? Should I make mention fo something like "this...

    Devilish question (cornugon/malebranche)

Yeah, I kept running into him while trying to find the root of 'malebranche' on the Web. I had gone through the fiends years ago with my French and Latin dictionaries puzzling out these names, but they were not, alas, in ready memory access. - Devon

    Devilish question (cornugon/malebranche)

I remember them being different creatures in the old D&D monster listings -- the cornugon had its special "bone hook" weapon and crouched on a pile of bones, while the malebranche had big horns and a pitchfork. It's confusing, I imagine, because "cornu" is Latin for "horn." - Devon

    celestials

I have a few observations, and forgive me if they display my lack of familiarity with the archons' stats in AD&D. The tome and throne archons, according to their descriptions, are wearing armors -- detailed descriptions in some cases -- but their AC features natural armor. Already, I can...

    new undead - the porthaunt

Thank you for catching the omission of the incorporeal subtype, and for appreciating its primary attack mode. I'm afraid I can't find anything wrong with the skill points, however. It should have 38, since 2xInt, +2/EHD = (2x12)+(2*7) = 24+14 The skills, with stat modifier and then skill...
