Convention centers charge an outrageous amount of money to give internet connections to the exhibitors. I'd be surprised if they were to suddenly give internet connections for free. I'm not exhibiting this year so I can't say for sure. Someone who is exhibiting should be able to tell you.

When you say "the character makes his Fort Save " you mean that "the player rolls the dice for the fort save" as opposed to "the player automatically succeeds at a fort save"?

Protection from Evil stops any attempt to "excercise mental control" over the creature. So any spell with "mind-affecting" would be stopped by PfE. This includes Charm Person and Suggestion.
