    WotC_Rodney...Chris Perkins...a black dragon...a playtest

It is interesting to see that there are still some significant fighter abilities at low levels (4?) that are causing major arguments. They are running out of time to get this stuff figured out.

    Cheating at the Game Table

When I first played (jr. high age), we all cheated non-stop. These days I can only remember cheating in one game....the DM was so railroady that nothing we did mattered. He seemed to change the AC of a monster on the fly to fit if he thought you should hit him or not...he would declare that...

    D&D 4E Eberron and 4e - hopes and fears

I don't see how they can. Dragons = Magic in Eberron. Period. Maybe you can get by giving them just rituals, but still, it doesn't explain how the orc druids learned magic and such. No, I think they have to say, from the start, that Eberron dragons ARE spellcasters.

Great Fantasy Cities (and what makes them so awesome)

Is that detailed in an Eberron sourcebook or is it all your own work? It sounds very cool.

Tips for Barrow of the Forgotten King

Good point. When I ran it I just made it hidden latch that they had to search for to open the door. The arcane lock was a bad design choice, I feel.

Tips for Barrow of the Forgotten King

I get what you are saying, but I don't think those first skeletons should have any sort of taunt. They are a diversion...they should get the party to think that it is just a standard haunted tomb. It isn't until they go deeper and find that someone has left watchers and traps behind (the...

DMG & MM: Players Stay Out?

Sorry to hear that. Next time I'm in Dublin I'll have to look you up...but you'll have a hard time keeping me out of the pubs. :)

DMG & MM: Players Stay Out?

Nice thought, but I don't know a single DM who doesn't play from time to time and only one player who doesn't occasionally put on the DM hat.

    Edition proof Fall/Winter products

I guess it depends on your definition of being able to cast spells...considering their place is as the pinnacle of magic, the teachers of magic, and the holders of the great secrets of magic it'd be a bit of a stretch for me to say that they aren't actual spellcasters. Just having a few rituals...

    Edition proof Fall/Winter products

Just like the fluff of many races is changed in Eberron versus core D&D, I'm betting that dragons will remain as they are. They will have to, for the sake of the entire history of the world, be the origins of magic, the greatest mages, and able to covertly shift the course of nations. They...

Barrow of the Forgotten King for larger group

Yeah, they'll have a hard time through the start. Once they get to the living foes, they should do well though. They'll still be better off than my party: 1 rogue/barbarian, 1 druid, 1 ranger, 1 bard. Can you say squishy?

    Sage Advice - multiclassing

It is amazing how little information they can pack into those videos. Standard magicians trick...show them something flashy so they don't notice that nothing is really going on.

Barrow of the Forgotten King for larger group

Good point, a cleric heavy group will do well in the first half of the barrow. Even then, there are some great battles later on where unusual terrain is used...it can be a real challenge.

Barrow of the Forgotten King for larger group

Be careful on buffing it too much. I ran 4 2nd levels through it and dropped a few of them into the negatives three or four times. It is a tough little adventure. Especially the ogre skeleton...that can one-shot a lot of characters and if your party doesn't have anything to bypass its DR, it...

D&D 4E My compiled list of 4E's WoWisms

A stretch. Aside from it being a party versus a dragon, how is it similar? Or like the quest log in Neverwinter Nights, or Bauldur's Gate, or Everquest, or City of Heroes, or...any quest log in any game, written or computer. Like many other games that have had level limits...City of Heroes...

    WOTC! Give us an update!

I agree with this. I have decided to not subscribe to DI for at least the first few months to see how it goes. I was going to jump on it right away, but Wizards' failure to hold the internet content to their own timeline has made me decide to wait. It seems that the lack of a printer's...

D&D 4E Playing parts of 4e today: Second Wind

I'm about to push my group through a very rough fight or two and I started thinking how nice it would be to have a second wind type of heal for them. Well, why not? We are using Eberron and thus Action Points, so I was thinking I'd give all PCs the ability to burn 2 APs to heal their...

    Your First Character? (with crunch)

I can't speak on the crunch yet, but my first character is likely to be a fighter. It is the base of the system, I feel, and will be the best way for me to judge 4e compared to AD&D or 3.5. But I am tempted to grab a wizard so I can get used to the spell/magic system.

Erfworld 91, This one is worth checking

I can honestly say that while there are moments that work for me, overall I just don't "get" it. Somehow, the writing style is so jumpy that I have a hard time following what is going on. I still read every issue, but mainly as something to do when there isn't a new OotS to read.
