In three campaigns (we alternate what campaign we play) I have two 2nd level characters and one third. This is actually a bit of a sore point for me since I've yet to play a character over 6th level in 3.5. As a DM I've run characters from 1st up to 11th or 12th level.

Same with my group. Their opinion so far is that we'll try out the SRD and decide if we want to buy the core books. This may have killed 4e for my group.

For something with a lower CR (allowing for more class levels) a changeling (Eberron Campaign Setting or MM3) would work well. Build up a 5-6th level changeling and you should be set.

Nice article. I like the abilities of the 3rd stat block...teleport + a fire burst is a killer combination. The flanking rules are interesting, but rather tough to remember.

Eberron for me. The amount of support it has will decide how quickly I move from 3.5 to 4. If there are no rules for shifters, artificers, warforged, and so on then I won't move until the core book comes out in 09.

Actually, neither option works. You can't do a full attack when you take a move action (so no moving and attacking with two weapons). Secondly, the errata on the scout says that your move must not finish with you in the same place where you started, so you can't move five feet, attack, and...

I'd let them make a try on their own...as they have trouble and need hints, I'd tell the guy who has Knowledge (religion) to make a check. If he asks if he can do that before I ask for it, then that's great...it is part of the puzzle.
