    moral dilemmas

I rarely do the "pick A or B, both of which suck" sort of moral dilemmas. I may spring one per campaign, but otherwise I find them to be anti-fun for my group. What I do really enjoy is making sure that the players know that their allies are not good guys, or that their actions do have...

Effect of WotC's PDF policy on on-line stores?

Yep, very interesting podcast, even with the low flying planes. :) And I agree that potential future sales cannot be written off. We may have a nicer IRS these days, but not that nice.

Effect of WotC's PDF policy on on-line stores?

Let's be clear here, piracy did not cause them to lose any money, just lose potential sales. There is no cost in a pdf like there is in a real book (or at least minimal cost per unit). That isn't a defense of piracy, just pointing out the differences.

Campaign Wikis are A lot of Work!

I agree, kensanata, I can't have a campaign without a wiki now. What I have on the wiki: Each player maintains a character sheet (for reference and for those "I forgot my sheet" moments) A list of NPCs with a short few sentences on who they are, what they did A campaign timeline...

    Rating Monsters vs Aliens

I didn't see it in 3D, but my son and I loved it (he's 4). I thought it had great laughs and very good action. Easily better than Cars and almost as good as Kung Fu Panda.

Why Did No One Tell me? Ultimate Toolbox!

FYI - I finally got a chance to put my order in for this book. Now it is all up to the United States Postal Service. It will be a long 4-8 business days.

Interview time - what do you want to ask WotC about their new pdf policy?

Fair point, but I wasn't trying to be rude or vent any feelings I have on the situation. I think a tough question is certainly reasonable and valid. If they give a non-answer or a boiler plate answer, that can be as illuminating as anything else.

Interview time - what do you want to ask WotC about their new pdf policy?

Between the move with the GSL and now with pulling the PDFs from the market, some in the community have mentioned that Wizards of the Coast has lost their leadership role. This has been accented by some competitors taking this opportunity to have PDF sales in an attempt to take a greater chunk...

Putting a positive spin on the PDF debacle

Good idea. Just picked up the Tomb of Horrors Revised from RPGNow. I've been meaning to do it for ages. I think I'm going to order the Ultimate Toolbox from Paizo too.

    DDi and Lack of PDFs

Not in the Character Builder, but just as viewable documents. I think this would work out well for WotC. I subscribe as a 3.5 player to get the full 3.5 library at $15/month. Now, as I look at the old edition documents, I constantly see new articles about 4e on the site, new Dungeon adventures...

    What Are You 12?

Mixed reactions: 1) that sucks and indefensible if true 2) This doesn't bother me, but I understand your point of view. To me, however, this makes it seem like a real game. My table certainly sounds more like the podcasts than some sanitized version where there are no questions on rules or...

    DDi and Lack of PDFs

Exactly. It still isn't impossible to hack (see the flash downloaders for YouTube) and it won't stop pdf scanning piracy (impossible), but it will give both ease of use and value. The successful battles against piracy are from those companies that understand that you battle it with value, not...

    What Makes a Good Player?

Pay attention. Everything else keys off of that. Don't go lay on the couch when it isn't your turn in combat (yes, this happened to me) and when it is your turn you have to take 5 minutes to decide what to do. Play a character you enjoy; don't try to round out the party. If you hate playing...

    Dollhouse #7: Echoes/Season 1/2009

I guess I'm still Mr. Happy. I really enjoyed the episode and can overlook the few weaknesses. Line of the night: "You've never seen my Drawer of Forbidden Starches?"

    Heroes #21:Into Asylum/Season 3/2009

Yep, me too. That was really the one thing I didn't like about this episode. How did Sylar jump around like that?

    Heroes #21:Into Asylum/Season 3/2009

I really enjoyed it. No, there wasn't any big action but I found it more focused than most of this season.

Dice bags - a few questions

A guy I used to game with made chainmail dice bags for a few of us. Empty each is more than a pound of solid gaming steel. Mine easily holds 3 full sets plus a few extra. I'm sure it isn't gentle on the dice, but I don't have any of the expensive sets. It isn't flat on the bottom, it isn't...

    Sitcoms

Better off Ted has had two strong episodes. It's the only sitcom I watch now, although I'll catch old episodes of Big Bang Theory from time to time.

    Campaign Wiki's

Another vote for pbwiki. I've used as a player and DM on five or six campaigns now and love it. I've not yet used Obsidian Portal, but I may in the future. Here is a link to a wiki for an older campaign of mine: pgatesandskimitars / FrontPage

    Guess what I've got!

That's no Campaign Guide, that's a Space Sta...I mean textbook! That is just gloriously cool. Well done. By the way, I'm hoping to have a review up next week on the second adventure in WotBS. Work and prep for tonight's game have taken over my free time this week.
