Gamma World New Edition Question?

My experience is that the only people that listen to the whinging grognards are the game designers, who get annoyed with them and that's about as far as it goes.

    I don't get high-level D&D (merged)

To be fair, there isn't even an arguement here to win... just a pissing contest. They're both right... and they're both wrong depending on which game and which GM we're talking about.

    Why are Hexblades mean?

No, not at all... some people might have just been wondering what the flavor logic was, rather than assuming there must be some overriding balance issue or game issue. Some times, the answer is as simple as "That's how the author wrote it." Seriously though, why ask why if all you're going to...

    I don't get high-level D&D (merged)

Let me say, for the record, being scryed by the villain sucks... especially if they can then do something to you. In our current game we have recently been confronted with *someone* who can scry us (not without detection, but...) and then toss two Vrocks at us. We have no idea who this person...

    Why are Hexblades mean?

Besides, the thread started out by asking why. People gave their reasons why they thought this was. If what you wanted was to see if people though changing it was a good or bad idea, you should have asked that instead.

Problem Player in Group... Me :(

Brainstone here... what are Forsakers/what book are they from?

Enlightened Title: PDF Margins must be higher due to the smaller audience.

Perhaps the extended gaming circle I'm in is atypical then... Our group averages (if you include 3.0 & 3.5) 2 copies of the PBH per player. That seems pretty typical with most of the other local gaming groups I interact with. Of course, I'm talking about gamers in their late 20's to late 30's...

    Scorching Ray- Overpowered?

What on earth is wrong with publishers these days?

And there's the reason why Steve Jackson games only did reviews of stuff they liked in Pyramid magazine when it was still being published. Well, one of the reasons... the other reasons being that they didn't want to discourage ad revenues, and finally, if you don't have anything positive to say...

Enlightened Title: PDF Margins must be higher due to the smaller audience.

The big reason, in my opinion, that they don't sell is that there are roughly five times as many players as game masters. Products 'have' to incorporate player bits to sell to the largest portion of the audience. They're my favorite thing to write as well... which is why I don't buy them. I'd...

    Authority RPG & Resource Book

For the same reason that Batman is in the Justice League of America... and no, I've never figured out that one either. And yes, I agree... I wish it was an M&M Supplement as well. If it were, I might actually buy it. I don't care for GoO's D20 treatments.

Thay assaults Rashemen! (Updates from the game...)

My military history is sadly, rusty, but 10% is generally a good number to work from. If nothing else, consider that 'decimate' means to 'kill one in ten'...

D&D 3.x 3.5 Darkness Spell - Otherwise known as "Huh?"

And there's your answer for the logic behind the change, I think... miniatures. Darkness slows down the game and makes it harder to use minis.

Nasty trick - will it work?

Maybe, though I think would have to read... Enemy readies an action to cast a wall spell in front of the caster if the Sorceror casts. Sorceror, not knowing this, casts fireball... Crispy sorceror The enemy would have to already have his readied action in place, unless the sorceror...

    Monks, gauntlets, questions galore !

Thirded... A gauntlet is a weapon, so a silvered gauntlet would be perfectly fine and would work against a lycanthrope. However, it is not a monk weapon, so no flurry or ki strikes. I don't have my PBH with me, but I'm guessing that Quivering Palm might be a problem as well. As a monk can...

New Notes from the Bunker at WotC (12/18): Cinematic Maneuvers

Nothing new here, I suspect, but Aikido can very easily be turned into a lethal art... the distance between holds and throws to breaking maneuvers is a close one, and of course, it's very close to sword fighting as well.

    XP & Feat table?

Incorrect... they appealed and the decision was knocked down to just under half a million. And for what it was worth, the lawsuit was hardy frivolous... she had 3rd degree burns from the coffee on about 20% of her body. Not to mention the fact that McD had previously settled close to $500,000...

    Are shuriken useful?

Actually, if you do the math, it's not that bad. It's only really advantageous if you combine Flurry and TWF against unarmored opponents. I don't have a problem with that, mowing through unarmored mooks is what Monks do. When was the last time you threw low AC opponents against a party of 10th...
