    Diplomacy and Bartering?

Well, I'd assume that the ro9ll determines what the offered price is. It doesn't mean that the PC has to buy at that price - that's up to the player. It's just that if he isn't happy with it, well, tough, the deal fell through. Just as happens in real life. I use Diplomacy to handle negotiation...

Draconomicron, Libris Mortis, Lords of Madness

What can I say? I just like the Undead. There's something about the living dead that is just really really... disturbing.

    A curiosity I thought I'd share

When we were at school Diaglo, there were only four elements: earth, air, fire and water! :p

Draconomicron, Libris Mortis, Lords of Madness

Hmmm, for myself I would rate them: Libris Mortis: it isn't the most interesting read, but it's got lots of usable stuff for most games (well, the ones I run anyway). It could have done with having more space since the topic is huge (and not self-restricted like Lords of Madness). But it...

I'm in London and need your help!

I'll second S'mon and say that Leisure Games is well worth the visit. The stock is great and the staff are friendly.

What is your favorite new race?

I voted Warforged. But not because of their abilities. Rather that as a constructed race, they are suddenly having to build themselves a culture and fight for recognition, hwich could make for some really greta stories. The Elan could have been similar, but they came out too bland.

What have you kept from 3.0 in your 3.5 games ?

If I recall correctly, Andy Collins mentioned when 3.5 came out that mathematically the 0.5 Str / 1.5 Str was the way to go for Power Attack, but that it was considered too fiddly for everyday use, hence the 0 / 2 multipliers. I have myself used this method for some time and find that it's not...

What have you kept from 3.0 in your 3.5 games ?

About the only thing that comes to mind is the Perform skill. I know it's not realistic to b able to have so many performance skills, but: this is a game where people conjure monsters from thin air... what's realistic mean?; it's a flavour skill -- rarely will a game really hinge on the...

    Earthdawn: FASA vs LR

Well, I started playing in an Earthdawn campaign under first edition that modified to second edition when it came out. Mostly the change was seamless, with neither players nor GM noticing very much. A few Disciplines were rejigged, so it was worth checking out your character again. And new PCs...

To UK players: Do you see these problems?

I admit that compared to some, I haven't RPed with vast nu,bers of people. But genrally in the groups I game in, I am the one who is most likely to be considered a 'rules lawyer' or 'munchkin'. The latter is simply the pleasure of seeing the way teh system fits together, and I have no problems...

    Who's from the UK?

Hi folks A Midlander born and bred here - living in Nottingham. I'm 3...(mumble) now. I game regularly but get to play D&D less often than I would like. But I've been RPing pretty much weekly for over twenty years. As for accents, well you must realise that every peasant comes from the West...

    What color are yer gobins?

Perhaps they're not called greenies at all? Mine vary from red through yellow, so tend to orange, though these deformed runts sometimes produce sports of weird shades.

    Cut To The Chase

Yup, having just bought and read it, I think ledded has the right of it: a very cool set of tools for use in that pretty common RP event. I really really wanty to run a chase now. Though I also want that foot chase supplement too! (In you own good time... :heh: ) Now a rather violent chase...

    Top down, or bottom-up?

Both Ways! I am a proponent of doing things both ways at the same time. I often start at the very beginning with an overall picture of the setting - a basic premise as it were. And I might sketch out a large-scale map. But then I also begin working on material for specific adventures, outlining...

    Differences between 3.0 vs 3.5

Steven Cooper has a very comprehensive and extensive series of PDFs noting the changes at: http://www.users.bigpond.com/steven_cooper/dnd/Dnd-Revised.htm Very useful.

    Do we really need Monks?

I have traditionally been of the mindset that said Monks have no place in a standard D&D game. Recently however, when designing my new Talyr setting, I managed to fit in both Monks and Psionics in one package! I simply make ki powers a form of Psychic power, and thus related the Monk to the...

    Stat and skill increasing items

Oddly enough, I don't really have a problem with attribute-boosting items, though I am pretty tough on them being in appropriate forms (so no vests of giant strength or boots of charisma). I am bothered about skill-boosting items, since skills, and skill availability, is an important...

    Describe Kobolds in Your World

Let's see. The kobolds of my Talyr campaign are actually relatives of the Lizardfolk. And the Lizardfolk are one of the dominant races of the world. so kobolds are pretty common. The Lizardfolk tend to see the kobolds as rather child-like relatives; sometimes they can be embarrassing, and they...
