    I hate Chaotic Neutral

Now that I don't agree with. 3E at last made some effort to give Neutral (both on the Law-Chaos and Good-Evil axes) an identity of its own, rather than an absence of extreme traits. It's that kind of reading (the absence of Neutral traits) that tends to blur discussions, since N has no value...

Eberron - things to watch out for?

The hardback books released for Eberron so far are: Eberron Campaign Sourcebook: the main setting book, with enough information to run a campaign if you wish. Gives additional rules material, ideas for games to run in Eberron, and a basic gazetteer for the primary setting location, Khorvaire...

How to increase a constructs hit points?

Just one small point: remember that constructs gain bonus hit points according to size (as d20Dwarf pointed out). So a Medium Construct gains +20 hit points for its size, making it HPs 3d10+20. That doesn't look quite so bad even if you just take average hit points.

    Eberron Deluxe Dungeon Master’s Screen

A fair review Joe. Three things were disappointing to me:</p> The screen is landscape rather rather the usual portrait orientation, which means that it only stands 21 cm tall. It doesn't do enough to shield you unless the players sit close. I like my notes as well as dice rolls hidden! The paper...

    Faerun vs. Faerûn

I agree - I have always understood that the caret served to make the pronunciation fay-ROON, i.e. with a long U and with the stress on the second syllable. Certainly all the FR gamers I know pronounce it that way.

RPG systems you liked -- much to your surprise

For me it has probably been Earthdawn. I looked at the rules many years ago and thought 'pretty, but really an awkward D&D clone'. Then I played a game and thought my position had been vindicated - I really found the play cumbersome and boring. Fast forward about ten years, and I got an offer to...

How would you fit Red Wizards (FR) into Eberron?

Just throwing an idea out here: how far would Cyre go to try and win victory in its increasingly impossible situation? Aaren d'Cannith found many of the secrets of the Warforged in Xen'drik. What if they didn't all come from the ruins, but also acquired from a 'Red Wizard' type magocracy? That...

    It won't let me vote!

I just wanted to add that I am in the same boat - I can't vote, since I have apaparently voted earlier. And I'm with UK ISP Virgin.Net Something odd going on...

Incorporeal creatures and the dreaded 15ft thick wall

I think that's because Monster Manual III modified the definition of Incorporeal which was then copied (and explained) in Libris Mortis. So DMG is lagging behind at this stage, and it ought to be mentioned in any future DMG errata document. But so far as I can tell, the MM III defintion...

Leisure Games & Siege of Durgam's Folly - Spoilers

Yep, when my FLGS hasn't got something, ot when I acn't get in to them, I've long used Lesiure Games, and they have always given excellent service. I particularly like the fact that they are knowledgeable too, so a phone call or e-mail can answer any queries you have.

Advancing a Brain in a Jar

I made good use of a brain-in-a-jar recently as the BBEG for an adventure set in an ancient necromantic research laboratory. The backstory was that this BBEG had contracted a disease during the course of his studies which he was unable to cure. He began to research the process of becoming a...

Have you been disillusioned by the Forgotten Realms?

Well said, Joshua! Done right the cosmology of a setting can be made to iteract with teh setting creating situations and adventures that are unique. That has turned out to be one of Eberron's great strengths - its orrery cosmology oozes favlour and creates adventures.

[Eberron] Names, names and more names!

And then he was struck by the thought that Keith Baker has a really rather good book (City of Towers) which includes a fair few Cyran refugees :o. A quick trawl, and voilà , a list of names. Good enough to start a campaign at least.

[Eberron] Names, names and more names!

Having now had a chance to look at the Five Nations book, sadly there are no examples of the names used in Cyre. Indeed the Cyre section is decidedly about the Mournlands. Now, of course, this can be defended as logical - the Mournlands are what you adventure in now. But it does mean that...

I tried searching but didn't get any joy. If anyone has any pointers that would be helpful.

    Die rolls

I must admit that I am generally happy for the player to re-roll if they decide themselves that the die is cocked*. Dice that fall on the floor are re-rolled. And occasionally I've used faintly credible 'cocked die!' as an excuse as a DM to get a player to re-roll a roll that came up incredibly...

[Eberron] Names, names and more names!

Names always seem to be the bane of role-players. It's surprising how many players seem to have really clear ideas of their character's traits, history, appearance and equipment, but when it comes to filling in that box on the character sheet marked 'Name' they go to pieces. That's how we end up...

    Most mispronounced monster names

The pronunciation 'koo duh grah' seems to have entered common parlance so much so that I've heard it used on TV before now. Time will tell whether or not it eventually comes to displace the 'correct' pronunciation. In teh mean time though I am going to correct people every time they say it wrong! ;)

    Most mispronounced monster names

Always as in 'grass', not 'grah'. Otherwise you are saying you are making a 'fat blow', which hardly sounds elegant! ;)
