Living Forgotten Realms updated and adventure archive

So, you mean all adventures from 2011 and newer? (I stumbled across those adventures only recently and skipped through some of them. As for now WATE2-4 Stage Misdirection is my favorite!)

D&D 5E (2014) Are the AP's basically just a repeat of the previous complaints about FR? Why we need more short term adventures.

Yes, the shorter adventures are what they call D&D Expeditions. They don't have to be played exclusively at cons but can also be played regularly at stores that participate in the Adventurer's League. Each covers a game session of about 4 hours as I recall.

D&D 5E (2014) What setting is best for a first time DM?

Ah, I just now realized that you are also a new DM. Than the starter set will be even better suited for you and your group. Did you already play D&D before? Do you know how the game works? If not than maybe just watch a video of a gaming group playing. Maybe even a video of the first session of...

D&D 5E (2014) What setting is best for a first time DM?

I think every DM needs every help he/she can get. So I will just repeat my previous posters' advice: Get the Starter Set, it is beautiful. Gives you everything you need (if you are someone who already DMed and just wants to start with the new edition). And judging by your avatar and forum name...

    D&D 5E (2014) DM Quits The Game

I think that D&D and especially the part of the DM is often misunderstood. Many people think that the game will unfold itself in a natural, almost magical way when you play and everyone knows exactly what they should be doing. You can go to an evening of D&D with this mindset and sometimes you...

    D&D 5E (2014) DM Quits The Game

So... when the players don't pick up on the hooks you give them... how about you ask the player what they would like to do? (That's the "Communication" part I was briefly talking above.) I know it sounds a bit unusual but: just try a bit meta-gaming. Talk directly to the players. It could be...

    D&D 5E (2014) DM Quits The Game

First of all: Thanks for sharing. An important thing for DMs is to acknowledge that you should also have a good time at the table, not to cater only to the other's needs. If you are stressed out and don't enjoy the game then of course take a break. The others had some really good points here...

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

I like the name "Three Strikes Plan" - a skill challenge is in its core exactly that. Kudos.

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

Shame on me to not know. But: what do you consider an E6-ish 4E game...?

Holmes in my D&D: dealing with Perception+Insight optimization?

I will go along with the other comments and say, that your problem this is not as bad as it looks. When a player builds a character that is highly specialized then he wants to shine in one particular field. And why not? That's okay. I bet that every scene where the Holmes character can make use...

How excited would you be about 4th edition putting up the core books with all erratta?

Yes, the "oldschoolization" of Magic Missile is something even I noticed back then (auto hit etc.). When you talk about a "cascade of broken realated game elements", do you mean the errata of existing powers (like in the case of Magic Missile)? Or is it something you attribute to the essentials...

How excited would you be about 4th edition putting up the core books with all erratta?

Nice. Any chance giving us a peek inside your "definitely NOT 4.5 Edition due to licensing reasons" documents? (The utility-skill power approach sounds intriguing.)

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

I like 4E very much. When I DM I like to play this edition. For me it is the edition which I will favor over all of them. But I really would have liked 5E to be an improvement over 4E concepts (which in the first playtest material wasn't that far off). As it got clearer that it would be more of...

Could you give us some details about the errata that you didn't like?

How excited would you be about 4th edition putting up the core books with all erratta?

I would cry a little if they really put up revised versions of the PHBs. At least they could, as Myrhdraak says, release the Class Compendium documents for all the other PHB classes that didn't get the treatment. One can dream... The MMs would be nice too, but if you have MM3 and the two MVs...

D&D 4th Edition Player's Handbook Now In PDF

PHB errata would be really great! But honestly I don't think Wotc will put any ressources/time/money into a discontinued product. They have to put every cent they have into 5E. (All the cuts and outsourcing they do now is not a good sign either for any projects beside 5E.) The lurking...

That is quite a nice definition.

    Some Wrecan Stuff

Wow, this is terribly sad. I didn't know anything about Wrecan but he must have been a paragon of common sense in the community. All the more important to save some of his input. I get only the "access denied" sign from the WotC website. Am I doing something wrong?

Who is this Wrecan? Where can I bask in his eternal wisdom?

D&D 4E Importing 4e core assumptions into other settings? advice pls?

So first: Yeah, go for your approach. The PoL-"philosophy" is something that can give a setting a very vibrant tone. It is easier to go on adventuring when the world around you is a mysterious, dangerous place. I like the Nentir Vale a lot because of this as well as the 4E Realms. Adding a pale...
