I find it interesting that Yuan-ti (which is what I voted for) is winning in the poll, but there's little posting about them. What's cool/appropriate about yuan-ti? I picked them based on the whole xenophobia thing that I always associate with medieval Japan. Plus snake people are just cool.

I feel the same way. He's playing very well (nobody would argue about his talent, I think) but I'm waiting to see how he behaves when things go badly. If he keeps his mouth shut and/or says the right things then, I'll believe he drank the Belichick Kool-Aid. :)

Given that you've got goblinoids running the show in China, I'd vote for something exotic for the "far-off islands" of Japan. I say Yuan-ti. But modify them so the almost-human ones are instead almost-hobgoblins (so they can do spy work in China).
