    Dragonlance Dragonlance 5E

I agree, WotC did not give us an update for Ravenloft. Even if they do a DL module, it will only be about one story in particular. Even CP said there is only one story worth telling. IMO, we really need a rules document for 5e Dragonlance. I'd even go so far to say that it should also...

    D&D 5E (2014) 6-8 encounters/day - how common is this?

IMO, there should be no requirement for X encounters per day. It's rather easy to toss encounters at the PCs a dungeon, but try doing it during a long overland journey. 1 random encounter roll per day seems more reasonable when the party is trekking through the wilderness.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

I agree. I think they completely forgot about making it functional. IMO, the best PHB was the three column layout 2e PHB. Every page had a header and symbol that told you exactly what section you were on. Spells were sorted by level, which made character creation and on the fly DM spell...

Sage Advice 3/21/16 Exploding druids and antimagic field vs zombies and cure wounds

Well.. people do escape Ravenloft. In fact, I have a RL module that allows you to randomly roll what world you escape into. My point is that if spells like contact other plane, summon elemental, and gate worked in Dark Sun the door is open for a Bigby. I guess Wish spell is another option...

Sage Advice 3/21/16 Exploding druids and antimagic field vs zombies and cure wounds

I guess I just don't view D&D campaign worlds in an isolated manner by default. My understanding is that such worlds are part of the prime material plane. I admit that I don't remember much about Athas, but what darksun edition are you referring (2e or 4e)? Do you know what campaign book...

Sage Advice 3/21/16 Exploding druids and antimagic field vs zombies and cure wounds

The spell could have been found in a book or a scroll. Bigby may have entered Athas through Ravenloft, Planescape, or spell jammer. Heck, even a god could have shared it'. But sure, if you're not going to embrace the multi-verse of D&D worlds then feel free to change the names.

D&D 5E (2014) Why Has D&D, and 5e in Particular, Gone Down the Road of Ubiquitous Magic?

I avoid players who bring/enforce MMO play style concepts into the game. I'm not interested in hearing a character being called a Tank or DPS toon. I also don't want arguments over it at my table. I think they should remain in character and just shut it.

Sage Advice 3/21/16 Exploding druids and antimagic field vs zombies and cure wounds

I totally agree. D&D needs it's own mythology. I was dismayed when the last edition changed it for the sake of the haters. I'm happy to welcome back those archmages from the multi-verse. I mean, if Ed can hide in a suit of armor, then so can I.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

That's a good one. Actually, the lack of page headers and poor chapter headings make the 5e PHB functionally disabled.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

Yeah, I guess that's how I feel about it. I simply want to compare a monsters hide / AC to a particular armor type and go with how I feel. IMO, a monster can have a huge hit point total and have a very bad AC or vice versa. For example, the Wilo-Wisp in 2e had a -8 AC with only 9 HD...

D&D 5E (2014) Why Has D&D, and 5e in Particular, Gone Down the Road of Ubiquitous Magic?

In my experience, the two play styles are incompatible with each other. I personally try to avoid players who think like that.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

No, I'm not under that impression. Let me try to explain the distinction. PrCs changed up your powers and/or gave you more. It was largely a mechanical alteration. In comparison, a Kit slaps you with role playing concept. If a bunch of hindrances were needed you got them and sometimes...

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

I totally agree, 3e was also bad for that. 2e was far more arbitrary in that regard, which made it faster IMO.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

Yes, but that's what that section in the 2e DMG rebuking min/maxing is all about.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

Well there are formulas for every single stat not just those three. Hit points, ac values, skills, etc, all have several forumlas. Regardless, I'm not sure it helps argue in favour of 4e if the way to make it work hinges on ignoring its prescribed rules/methods.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

Kits were not really designed for power gaming options, they were designed for role playing. In some cases a Kit would have more hindrances than benefits, but that was intentional. A fighter who has access to full plate is always going to be more powerful than a fighter who's culture has...

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

You can re-skin monsters and put an encounter together rather quickly in 4e. The problem is that you end up with a rather generic encounter that isn't much different than all the others. If you truly wanted to do things correctly in 4e you had to spend much more time designing the grid...

D&D 5E (2014) Why Has D&D, and 5e in Particular, Gone Down the Road of Ubiquitous Magic?

That's the problem, it's a "player" and not the "character" who has such a negative opinion about your character. One of the most offensive things a player can do is berate other players at the table for not conforming to MMO styled tactics.

    D&D 5E (2014) What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

Dart Fighters are banned at my 2e table.
