New and Different Question about Shield

First of all, let me explain how I think the spell works, by the rules. The shield is an invisible disc that essentially moves of its own volition. The caster is only directing its movements when he wishes to change the direction it is protecting against. The rest of the time, the shield...

    A Modest Proposal... (Regarding TWF)

Something 2 of you have been mistaken about is that you need 2 light weapons to achieve -2/-2 to hit. This is incorrect. You may wield a weapon of normal size in your main hand and as long as your offhand weapon is light, the final penalty is -2/-2, assuming you have TWF and Ambi. This is...

Whips and Far Shot or Distance enhancement

Actually you can throw a whip with the correct feat just fine. I'm not talking about throwing a whip. So far you really haven't said anything worth considering on this topic quite frankly. If you have some rule somewhere that disclaims all the evidence I gave above, then give it up. I for...

Whips and Far Shot or Distance enhancement

I disagree. The whip is listed in the weapons chart as having a 15’ range increment. At least I hope so, since all I can check at the moment is the SRD. Under the weapon’s description it further details that its maximum range is 15’. So it has only 1 range increment of 15’, and therefore...

Arterial Strike and weapons of wounding

So what? If you land with all 5 attacks and deal 7d6 sneak attack dice, that's an AVERAGE of 122.5 hit points. That doesn't count weapon damage or strength mods or anything else. That's in one round. Your opponent isn't going to last long if you are hitting with this kind of consistency.

Whips and Far Shot or Distance enhancement

I think I agree that it needs to be magical, or else bump it up to medium (or large) size. I have a picture of a brilliant energy whip of distance. Hmmm, reminds me of a certain Balrog's whip...sort of.

Whips and Far Shot or Distance enhancement

Is there a way to increase the range of a whip? Let's say you took Far Shot. Now, your range with a whip is 22.5'. However, I assume whips only go out to 15', so does this mean you'd need to craft a special, longer whip to get this range? Any suggestions of how to do this...

jump skill and boots of striding and springing

I don't recall seeing this mentioned, so I'll offer it up. Get a Ring of Jumping to go with those boots.

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

Voadam wrote: "jontherev, I think artoomis and Ice bear are referring to an item that is shrunk down to under the glove of storing's 20 pound limit through a shrink item spell. If the duration keeps going, the question is what happens when it runs out and you are now storing a hundred pound...

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

I suppose so since dirt and mud are not part of the item. I don't have much exp. w/alchemist's fire. If it's just normal fire, then it would work like the item description says about lit torches. A fireball would work the same way I think, if it caught something on fire that you wished to...

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

You aren't casting Shrink Item, you are using a magic item that does something similar to the spell. Big difference. That spell is just a prerequisite...that's it! If it were actually casting the spell, it would say so like it does in all the other magic items that are actually casting spells...

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

No duration is given in the item, so you can shrink an item indefinitely w/o the need to make up a rule for that scenario...it would never happen! I agree with IceBear. Spells simply do not stop while in stasis...it only effects the actual object.

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

Ah yes, I definitely screwed up those abuses. Still, the GMW'ed melee weapon w/Keen enchantment is bad enough. Perhaps a Bane thrown in?

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

The problem is that I think the burden of proof is on your argument, not ours. The fact that spell duration stoppage is not mentioned in the item's description really hurts your argument and helps ours imo. You have made a ruling on the definition of stasis, and that's fine. However, if...

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

While this is true, you're better off getting an animated shield I think. A +1 animated shield only costs around 10000 I think. They rock for two-handed or two-weapon fighters. Tower shields won't work in your example because they weigh over 20 pounds (the limit of the gloves). A mithril...

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

Good, then we agree.:D Since there is no definition for stasis as a game term, why would you assume it does something like stop a spell's duration? It doesn't say this ANYWHERE in the rules, hence why I posted what I did. You are creating a house rule by assuming stasis does anything but...

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

It will take more than an interpretation of "stasis" to convince me they intended to give such a cheap magic item the ability to delay spell durations cast on stored objects. If this was the intention, I believe they would have more clearly stated this. For example, by saying something like...

    Spring Attack while flying?

There's also a power play in the recent dragon that mentions spring attacking. It specifically mentions sipping a potion/casting a spell, and "springing up", meaning by flight. I'm paraphrasing here...read the article for full text.

What kind of spells, if any, may be used in sneak attacks?

Yes, but with that 1 level of wizard comes the Scribe Scroll feat. And wands of a 0 level spell are really cheap. I don't think this issue has been raised because it is actually a non-issue as long as you have time to scribe extra scrolls. Now, once that wand is gone and the scrolls too, then...
