D&D 5E (2014) WotC Developer Google Hangout on Youtube

So with the Hangout over, thoughts? A few things I caught while in the midst of work. Targeting for a Basic, Standard and Advanced setup for DnDNext. Multi-classing will work similar to 3rd, in that Fighter 3, Rogue 2, Monk 1 is possible. New Class that killed another class and took some of...

    D&D 4E Need suggestions for a Dark Sun 4E Cleric/Leader substitute...

About using themes, I believe that Dark Sun was the first instance of themes for 4th ed, and that it's somewhat expected that you use them. Probably not terrible if you don't, but keep that in mind if things seem more difficult then expected for the PC's.

D&D 5E (2014) Customize and design monsters in 5e, what would you like?

Base monsters obviously, but with both Class Templates which are based on monster/pc HD, as well as Themed Templates. Having the underlying math listed in the MM for generating monsters would still be great for those who wish to create from scratch with guidelines. Or create a level 1...

    Photoshop CS2 for free

Looks like Adobe's site is caught up to demand. Also, for those wanting to print pdf's, they have a version of Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 available. A bit out of date (latest is version 10 ) but it'll print pdfs competently.

    Multitouch Monitors and gaming

Here is a link to Gizmodo's look at that Lenovo Touch PC, which can be angled for hand use, or laid flat for a Microsoft Surface type experience. Run's Win8 with some extra suite of programs from Lenovo. http://gizmodo.com/5973579/a-desktop-pc-that-turns-into-a-gigantic-27+inch-tablet

    D&D 5E (2014) Crits - Damage plus effect?

I wonder if giving a free use of a Maneuver or at will spell in lieu of straight extra damage would be an alternative..

    Photoshop CS2 for free

Although the website is getting hammered. Hopefully Adobe will get things sorted out. You can grab either Photoshop CS2, or the full CS2 suite as long as you have an Adobe account https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?pid=4485850&e=cs2_downloads...

    D&D 5E (2014) Storm Over Baldur's Gate: Sundering Adventure 1

The stance that story advancements in a campaign setting, any campaign setting, ruins it is odd to me to some degree. If you don't advance things story-wise then you have a static world and may as well never publish anything again. If you are DM'ing that setting, using a previous edition, have...

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey reactions (SPOILERS)

I find that movies shot and blocked with 3D cameras are usually far better off than post conversion any day of the week. Both real and CGI 3D films using native tech seem to produce much better results. Many of the CGI films from Pixar and Dreamworks look lovely in 3D, while the Resident Evil...

What if other adaptations got the "hobbit" treatment?

Hrmm. could this be HBO's next TV series after Game of Thrones is complete.... :) Personally, I'm looking forward to the release of The Hobbit, I'm wondering how much extra is being pulled in from the Appendix/Silmarillion and put on screen. On the other hand, a shot for shot recreation of a...

The Matrix - A false reputation.

Reading this thread over, it now dawns on me that the Mass Effect games have a very similar plot and philosophical viewpoint in the 50K year destruction cycle, and how the ending plays out in the third game... I wonder how much influence The Matrix Trilogy had on those games...

D&D 5E (2014) next playtest packet due when?

Keep in mind, they usually shut down for two weeks around Christmas. I'd say either soon, next week or so, or in the new year.

D&D 5E (2014) Remove stat bonus from damage

I wouldn't be against removing it from the attack bonus, and only applying it towards damage, for any ability score. Str, Dex, Int... The only bonus for accurate attacks comes from the class, and helps show the learned skills through that.. Perhaps as an optional house rule. I'm hoping that...

    Warforged and cursed items

Sure, he can cut it off.. but the ring preserves the hand (well worforged aren't too worried here), but nothing can be attached in replacement, darn it... The craftsmen can try and try, but the magic of the cursed item prevents replacement limbs from securing themselves... Although perhaps the...

Playing with a new style [Update - switching to it on 12 Nov]

I think I'd prefer the menu below the ad. The current placement may lead to accidental clicks on the ad banner, which usually only frustrates users. Small debug, the down arrow on the 'Things we make' disappears on hover which I think is unintentional, as the ones on the other menu options...

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 5E Characters be MAD?

The base four of Fighter, Rogue, Wizard and Cleric are Generic enough (or should be) that they can focus on their primary stat, and place other abilities to change how the class plays and feels. Other classes, I have no problem with being MAD, with suggested recommendations (if not base...

D&D 5E (2014) Is multiple actions per rounds a good idea?

Full extra actions.. in general no. Perhaps through the action point mechanic depending on setting. However, multi-attack options are fine if done well.
