Character Level = HD, actually, by the RAW. Leadership keys off Effective Character Level, though. Animals would generally have a negative Level Adjustment, and so an ECL below their actual level, I'd think... not having hands and having Int 2 are big penalties, along with less skill points...

I might allow it, personally, but anything built this way would probably have a big weakness against sundering attacks.

Yep. You'd do nonlethal damage as appropriate for your size, and provoke an AoO.

Interestingly enough, Orb of Force is reprinted in a sidebar with the Force Missile Mage prestige class in Dragon Compendium as an Evocation spell... but it still has a "Spell Resistance: No" line.

I'd agree on the "Game Fantasy" post, but then note that things like Slayers, Record of Lodoss War, or Those Who Hunt Elves (lots of anime, though Slayers was originally a series of light novels) have sprung out of the "Game Fantasy" genre too. Slayers, for example, has rather Warlock-like...
