Any good 4e adventures that arent dungeon crawls?

The last breaths of Ashenport, by Ari. Lots of mystery and feels very, very lovecraftian. While there is some "dungeon", it's not the main focus and there's lots of stuff going on. You can get this one through the DDI. Easily my favorite adventure of 4e.

    Splitting Up Your Party (Intentionally)

I've done this before to great success and I'm actually doing it again beginning this weekend. The last one was with only two players in the campaign, so we split them up and created 3 different stories with differing characters. The overall goal was to gain support with neighboring kingdoms...

Was V's act evil? (Probable spoilers!)

I voted yes. Not because of killing evil dragons, but because one in there is clearly a half-dragon, which is not, by the rules, inherently evil.

    My 3 quibbles with 4e

It may have been mentioned above, but I'll chime in on what we do for these 3 issues: 1.) I got every player to chip in and get every color of Alea Tools - Home of Stackable Magnetic Markers markers. We color-coded as many effects as possible (white is weakened, light blue cold damage, black...

Art: Bloodfury Savage: Since when do half-orcs shave their pits.

Actually, of the official D&D Gnoll minis and some artwork, female Gnolls have been depicted with breasts. Goblins - Life through Their Eyes - Sunday, March 15, 2009 clearly depicts female goblins with breasts, and even lipstick!! I can't speak for kobolds, but they've had so many thematic...

    GM Notes: Handwritten or Typed?

I type my notes for upcoming games in word, then put recaps/follow-ups on my epic words blog. I don't do anything handwritten for two reasons: 1. I have horrid handwriting/note taking skills and often lose the paper I'm writing on. 2. If I do it in word, I save it to a shared folder for my...

How Do You Transport Your Books?

I use crystal caste's battle Hive. Without any inserts, it can hold about 8 standard (Re: D&D shaped) gaming books. It works pretty well when I have to go to another location.

    About Reveille

I was skeptical when someone named Reveille "couldn't wake up", but I wasn't going to be snarky in case it was true. It is sad how far people will deceive for attention. Oh well, on to more exciting stuff...Anyone reading the PHII thread!?! :D

Excerpt - Save My Game - Narrative Threads

I am the Harbinger of over-description. Often, I do this because our games get rushed and I feel the need to give out more information. This was a nice article in utilizing skills to push more information and to hold back. I also really liked the Brick Wall scenario. I never really thought...

    Mature content

Didn't have an option for "I add what mature content I and my players want in my games and don't require a book for that". I bought Book of Vile Darkness and found it to be wanting. Even most of the monsters were just, "meh". Same with Book of Exalted Deeds. That didn't even need a mature...

    Dungeon a day is live!

Not really my cup o'tea (I hardly ever send my players through dungeons) and since I'm using 4e, I don't need to subscribe to another online system. However, for the gamers who do dungeons, I could see this as a very useful source. -Ktulu

    Who Started Playing D&D Indirectly?

A combination of Fantasy Lego's and Baldur's gate. We enjoyed the idea of roleplaying games back in elementary school and created a simple dice-roll mechanic for winning (horribly broken, btw). Shortly after high-school, Baldurs Gate was released. In the box was an advertisement for AD&D 2.0...

    How to handle "shopping"?

kUtulu? heh..ehhhh.... As I've stated in other posts, I often toss out money all together, focusing more on the plot/exposition. However, when I run games where I do use the money, I've found that utilizing streetwise (and other similar skills in previous editions) worked the best. Making a...

    Swordmage 4e Your Experiences?

Had a guy in my group use it as a "martially focused" warlock. Basically he got all the arcane power from a pact with a devil. Thematically changed the look of powers to reflect more 9-hellsish stuff. He used aegis of assault with longsword and a high intelligence. I have to say, Swordmage...
