    D&D 5E (2014) Improved Find Familiar

From the MM entry on Pseudodragons, pg 254. Draconic Familiars. Mages often seek out pseudodragons, whose agreeable disposition, telepathic ability, and resistance to magic make them superior familiars. Pseudodragons are selective when it comes to choosing companions, but they can sometimes be...

D&D 5E (2014) Daggers, Knives, and Darts...... Are there no Knives in 5E....?!?!?!

Mystery Men The Blue Raja: I'm not StabMan, I'm not KnifeyBoy, I'm the Blue Raja. Mr. Furious: [referring to the Blue Raja's costume] Yeah, that's another thing... why are you the Blue Raja? I mean, you've got green, you've got a little flowery thing going on, but it's like everything but...

    D&D 5E (2014) Natural Armor

For npc's just give them the AC you want them to have the why's and how's don't matter. For player characters, the Eberron playtest gives Warforged an ability called composite plating that gives the a flat +1 to AC. A powerful ability considering things but as long as you build your natural...

Jeremy Crawford's New Sage Advice Column

Correct, it is just a very nice collection of Tweets from Crawford and Mearls, you could just follow them on Twitter, but the site makes it searchable and much nicer in my opinion. None of that changes the fact that they are responses to rules questions by those responsible for the design of...

D&D 5E (2014) Daggers, Knives, and Darts...... Are there no Knives in 5E....?!?!?!

I was thinking he was talking about boot knives, which to me would be daggers. But if wants throwing knives I would just use the rules for darts.

Look What ED GREENWOOOD Is Doing! Forgotten Realms: The Unofficial, Non-Canon, Unlicensed, Utterly U

I care so very little about the Realms or Greyhawk, to me they are much the same boring kitchen sink type setting. But this whole 50 years anniversary because someone wrote a story when they were 6 years old thing is just ridiculous, I agree publication date is the date that matters. So happy...

D&D 5E (2014) Can someone please explain to me why there are still no PDFs for 5e core books?

For society reasons, this page speaks to the issues far better than I could. https://web.law.duke.edu/cspd/publicdomainday/2015/why Personal reasons, I enjoy movies and tv, other forms of entertainment. Think of the different versions of Dracula, Frankenstein, Three Musketeers, and other...

D&D 5E (2014) Can someone please explain to me why there are still no PDFs for 5e core books?

Not a fan of the extension to public domain laws either. Here is a list of some of the stuff that would have been available this year if the laws pre 1978 still existed. https://web.law.duke.edu/cspd/publicdomainday/2015/pre-1976

D&D 5E (2014) Can someone please explain to me why there are still no PDFs for 5e core books?

Joe and Bill are neighbors, they both play D&D together on Saturday nights. Both Joe and Bill each own a copy of the Player's Handbook for 5th edition. Joe purchases a second copy takes it apart and feeds it through a high quality scanner, he spends the time making an ocr pdf of the book...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the point of gold?

Compared to making permanent magic items at twice the price, yes pretty useless. Two scrolls of fly or a broom of flying for the same amount of gold and time invested, not a hard choice. If you don't like riding a broom go with winged boots, all of them are 'uncommon' magic items. Now was is...

D&D 5E (2014) DMs: How Old Are You?

    D&D 5E (2014) Improved Find Familiar

It is the rules in the MM that call allow for other spellcasters to bond with some of the special familiars. Variant rules, for the DM to decide to use and how but they are there. No player should expect his wizard to gain an imp familiar, but having the possibility as an option is not a bad...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogues (melee-based) & Two-Weapon Fighting: Why not always do it?

Savage attack is just the weapon dice it is not like the critical hit wording that says all damage dice, so not much synergy for rogues it is barely a decent feat for someone using a d12 great axe. Use object and interact with object is not making an attack with a thrown item like...

    D&D 5E (2014) Improved Find Familiar

I don't think so, not exactly. I wouldn't alter the find familiar spell like some are suggesting to get more powerful creatures, but under some specific creatures it says they can choose to become familiars. It is a roleplaying opportunity if you meet a pseudodragon to make a new friend, who...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogues (melee-based) & Two-Weapon Fighting: Why not always do it?

99% of the time you want to dual wield as a melee rogue, it was true in 3rd edition too. The other 1% of the time is normally because of utility things that don''t come up all the time. You need to be holding a torch or lantern, you need a free hand to climb a ladder or hold onto something...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the point of gold?

As far as lanterns and stuff go, continual flame still exists so everburning torches and lanters are probably pretty common. The component is 50gp, so even say with 100% mark up you could buy them 100gp.

D&D 5E (2014) Any reason to go Melee vs. Stay ranged as a Rogue?

True, but there are other ways besides crossbow expert, shocking grasp and mobility feat spring to mind right away. Cunning action disengage, but yes any ranged weapon person worth his salt has a finesse melee weapon and any spellcaster has a save based attack cantrip just for these occasions.

D&D 5E (2014) Any reason to go Melee vs. Stay ranged as a Rogue?

I have no idea. But someone in the thread wanted to do so, I was offering my idea for it.
