    D&D 4E Things I Learned From 4e

What I learned playing 4e. Standing in one square and trading full attacks may be boring, but a ton of finicky one square shifts and force movements bogs things down and is just as boring in its way. Dial back the forced movement and simplify the move options so we can get on with things...

    Typo or deliberate?

Thanks, for the post Trevor. If you think this one went back and forth and got contentious, maybe you should check out the thread on the Warden Utility, Bear's Endurance and the order of Immediate Interrupts. :)

D&D 4E What are the generally powerful classes in 4e?

Warlord's, particularly in combination with classes with strong basic attacks, seem to be quite powerful. Lot's of weapon attacks vs NADs for strong accuracy without feat investment, very good healing and lots of granted attacks to the heaviest hitters. Really fulfills the role of force multiplier.

    Healing as an Afterthought

I like this. Possibly even give a a little more than the written bonus to healing, like +2d6 instead of +1d6 for a level 1 cleric. Gives an interesting, situational decision for the leader. A quick heal and still attack or a big heal. Thanks for the idea!

    Roles in Roleplaying Games

Well I sort of agree with you and sort of don't. I do think the 4 roles of 4e are actually fairly artificial in concept. I prefer to think of character roles in terms of tactical placement on the battlefield. So, frontline anchor, melee floater, ranged artillery, crowd control, mid-range...

    Roles in Roleplaying Games

1e Bard was a Druidic caster based on Irish mythology. An archtype I still prefer to the arcane mess that 2e intriduced and the later editions have continued. I think that's what Umbran is getting at. Your tradition and mine aren't the same and I would hesitate to make any claim to rightness...

How long to write an adventure for publication?

Worth bearing in mind, if I recall from some of Tim Kask's thread's on Dragonsfoot, by the time EGG was writing B2 and the Giant series he had artists on staff to do the cartography for him. I'm fairly sure that when Gary posted about how long it took to write the modules he was not...

    Typo or deliberate?

You may be right on the Blind duration, I am not sure; but, this quote is wrong. The sustain rule can specifiy an attack on sustain and doesn't have to have a condition. Also the sustain isn't conditional and the blindness is, so would your ruling really be that if the target isn't bloodied...

Deleted. The more I work through scenarios the less sure I am of the correct answer.

    Healing as an Afterthought

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I particularly appreciate the posts from those of you who play leader's regularly. @Tony_Vargas re. dailies and resting. You are absolutely right about that. I'm hoping that the medium rest concept will give players a couple of meaningful decision points...

Can Campaigns based on books be successful?

Rereading your OP, you did imply that the story wasn't the same so most of my post wasn't real helpful. :) Belgarath and Polgara as NPCs is definitely a good choice too. Do they travel with the group or do they just show up occasionally? I would be careful that you don't have the NPCs...

    Healing as an Afterthought

Is your Shaman using minors to do a lot of positioning with the spirit or are their other minor actions I'm not considering? I don't have a lot of familiarity with Shaman. Well, I play one of those 4 minor heals an encounter Warlords in the sessions I don't DM using both utilities (at level 6)...

    Healing as an Afterthought

I'd like to partially respond to the majority opinion on healing action economy. One of the playstyle considerations I'm struggling with is a perceived lack of interesting tactical impact on the decision to use a healing power. The leader classes as a whole have very few uses for their minors...

    Healing as an Afterthought

The number of surges recovered and frequency of use are totally subject to change after testing. In fact, I think a few more surges recovered but only used once a day may get me closer to the pacing I'm looking for. Thanks for idea. What I was reaching for was a player initiated recovery...

    Healing as an Afterthought

I've never had a player use the heal skill to remove conditions? With all of the at wills available and other utilities/powers that allow an ally to make a save on the leader's turn (sometimes even for conditions that wouldn't usually get a save) that just hasn't come up. Granted it does...

    Healing as an Afterthought

I've been playing/DMing in a 4e group for almost 3 years now. The game is a lot of fun and as a whole it is both complex enough and well-balanced enough that houserules are basically non-existent. (Just a couple races and classes that I don't allow for campaign story reasons.) Overall, I like...
