    Genders - What's the difference?

A valid point. I think game design is moving away from those sorts of adjustments as well. Certainly D&D abandoned them and TSR AD&D had them in spades.

    Genders - What's the difference?

As an edge case, maybe. I think you might still have an argument against needing a mechanical differentiation to explore that theme. Actually, putting the mechanic in could well limit your ability to take the gender roles theme in the direction of fighting against unfair stereotypes of...

    Genders - What's the difference?

I didn't realize you were trying to ask a question. I think JustKim answered that quite well earlier in the thread. Differing advantages will still make one gender an optimal choice over the other for some character concept. Why impose that on the players? How does making your gender the less...

    Genders - What's the difference?

Great example...oh wait, that game doesn't exist.

    Genders - What's the difference?

I haven't read the entire thread yet so this may have been covered. I have always been fortunate in having female players in my gaming groups. Since some of those groups date back to those days of differing characterstic adjustments/maxima for different genders, I have been involved in this...

    E.G.G. On Realism & Combat

There is respectful disagreement and then there's taking cheap shots at a dead man.

When did WotC D&D "Jump the Shark"?

I would assume so. I'm not sure it generates more revenue. I understand the WoTC gets a pretty good revenue stream from DDi, but lets look at the marginal revenue picture. From the number of character bullder/monster builder threads here and on other forums I'm going to hypothesize that most...

    This is my Elemental Airship.

Let's see, good easy to follow premise to your essay. They could indeed do some photoshop magic to make the artwork more usable, but then how much of their (not there, minus points for grammer) market has access to full color printers that can reproduce the maps at that scale? I do, but then I...

When did WotC D&D "Jump the Shark"?

I agree with all of this. There were a couple of early publishing/layout decisions that I think forced them into the hurried early pace. Splitting out some of the iconic races/classes/monsters from the first three books. I'm looking at you Gnome/Bards/Giants. I also think WoTC's aversion to...

    Style Points

It's been kind of a running joke at my table that when a player or NPC pulls off a great stunt I mark it with a "style point". I've never associated any other reward with the shout out. Recently I've been thinking of ways to add some mechanical benefit to a style point. Can be used for...

    I love D&D!

Someday I hope to find out my limit for both :p

    This is my Elemental Airship.

Ok, spoiler alert, I'm about to be a bit of a d-bag and make all kinds of unwarranted inferences from your epic fail of a whine. You, sir, are not a market segment. Only a handful of artisans can hope to make any money off of your gaming desires. Anyone who has the money to throw away on...

    Hammer Hunter

I trained out of World Serpent's Grasp on my hunter. I found it works best if someone else in your party can also slow or immobilize. Having someone else take it to maximize your Disrupting and Clever shots is a much better idea.

When did WotC D&D "Jump the Shark"?

Not to be snarky (well too snarky), the ramp was built and shark penned with the decision to make everything core that is published in DDI and supplements. The boat wasn't fired up until PHB3 and the racial books for Dragonborn and Tieflings. For me, PHB3 marked the last book I bought from...

    Ranged Defender: Doable?

I think you could build a fairly compelling Swordmage build that incorporarted powers to force teleport targets to them rather than some of the existing that teleport the swordmage to a target. My regular group includes a 5th level swordmage. His biggest weakness compared to other defenders...

Switching from bow to swords - how does it work?

My table rule is you can fill both hands with a minor if the hands start empty and the items are carried to facilitate drawing. So sheathed weapons or implements, something tucked into a belt or sleeve. Items in a pack or pouch take a minor per item to retrieve.

    Invasion by who or what

I would start with something totally cliche like little green men in spaceships. Then have them find out that the invaders are running away from something worse...

Robert J. Schwalb Blog Discussion; Feats: Do We need them?

Well I don't know the lady to ask her ;). Your blog post brought up many of the ideas my co-DM and I have been discussing for house rules (and a couple more. It's like you get paid for this or something). I don't think you're wrong.

How do you roleplay your character?

I voted for none of these. I use aspects of the first 3 answers. Action choice at a tactical level (combat, skill challenge) is done from a game piece/story element perspective. The narration and NPC interaction elements I try to assume the guise of my character's personality. Goals and quests...
