    Houserules for Skill Challenge System

I've been kicking around some ideas to "improve upon" the existing skill challenge system and am interested in feedback from the good people of the ENWorld community. The goal here is to give players in a skill challenge "tactical" options beyond just rolling the die (or choosing not to roll at...

Footwork Lure - Sliding Big Creatures

I don't think you actually can slide large (or larger creatures) in the way the OP describes. Although the power does not specify a distance, it says "into a square adjacent to you" rather than "any square adjacent to you." I would contend that once you have slid one square of the creature into...

    Charging to the Side

My group plays the same. All of those spaces are 2 squares away from the barbarian and are thus all equally "close." Personally, I find this to be a good thing in that there are really no questions of subjective interpretation. Just count the squares and you're good. To me, that's worth the...

    Summoned Armor?

I think his point is, with the summoned armor (barring the alternate rules) you can't do anything to it other than disenchant it or turn it into +4 (or whatever) summoned armor. With the vanilla +3 armor, you can add whatever property you want to through the enchant magic item ritual. It's not...

    Tempest fighter and multi-classing

I agree. I can see both interpretations being valid. I tend to gravitate toward the first because 1) that is, strictly speaking, what the feat says (unless you interpret "as if it were" to always mean a very specific thing in WotC speak--which I'm perfectly willing to accept it might although...

    Tempest fighter and multi-classing

The clarification is appreciated. I'm pretty sure I would have never noted the distinction otherwise. And since I do love to bemoan how broken that enchant is, it's probably best if I actually know how it works :).

    Tempest fighter and multi-classing

While I'll happily admit that my opinion might be wrong, I don't think the situation is "exactly" like the wizard situation. The wizard treats his longsword as though it were a wand, yes, but "wand" is not a weapon property; it's an implement. So Wizards treating their swords as if they were...

    Pushing Really Big things

I hope I didn't put words in your mouth. I was only taking the situation to the extreme to illustrate the point, not trying to claim you thought such an example was reasonable. As I said, I don't know for sure that there is anything in the RAW that disallows even the extreme example I gave...

    Pushing Really Big things

I believe that it is RAW, but I understand if you disagree. By your interpretation, a fighter would be within the RAW to slide the dragon (or whatever) 20 squares backward into the pool of lava, then 20 squares left through the Wall of Blades, and then 20 squares back to be dropped off the...

    Pushing Really Big things

I could be wrong, but I think the problem here is the understanding of where the creature ends up. Assuming the aforementioned creature on a cliff, if you use Footwork Lure, you must first hit, then shift 1. I know we're all on the same page thus far. Now you slide the creature into the space...

    Tempest fighter and multi-classing

I agree with Mort Q. The feat allows you to deal extra damage with off-hand weapons, not with weapons wielded in your off-hand. As far as I can tell, if the weapon itself does not have the off-hand property, you don't get the damage boost.

looking for fantasy adventure books recommendations

I'm a big fan of Steven Erikson, Glen Cook, and George R.R. Martin among those who have already been mentioned. Another series I enjoyed a great deal is the Guardians of the Flame (starting with the Sleeping Dragon) by Joel Rosenberg. I don't hear many people mention Rosenberg anymore, but in...

Periapt of Cascading Health and Dazed

First, let me say that all of your responses are greatly appreciated. Next, you guys should feel free to be much meaner to Radiating Gnome in your posts; that guy spends 6 hours trying to kill me every other Sunday. You should hear him giggle when a character goes down (I kid, I kid). I know...

Periapt of Cascading Health and Dazed

Greetings EN World community. Long time lurker, first time poster. Recently, my group ran into this situation: A character who was dazed used a minor action to activate a Periapt of Cascading Health to remove the dazed condition. At the time, the DM ruled that even though the character was no...
