Quick help needed - most powerful 3rd lvl build

I think a warlock at that level could have Darkness and Devil's Sight (to see through his own darkness). Toss on a blast invocation like Sickening, and maybe a level of rogue for Sneak Attack damage. You'd be doing 2d6 with each attack and be very hard to hit.

    The Tarrasque is Awake!

Actually I think this idea has potential. You could have good low to mid-level adventures dealing with the Tarrasque's wake, then cap the whole thing off with defeating Big T. Hmm. Low-level: Deal with bandits/goblins/etc. preying on communities weakened by the Tarrasqe's passage. Mid-level...

    The Tarrasque is Awake!

If I know which direction the thing is coming from (assuming it's headed straight for my village) and I have at least a day's head start: take off at a 90 degree angle. Then angle back toward its starting point and loot the ruins. :)

The Ctrl + V game revisited ... in honor of Bront

She could be multi-classed, of course. Rogue 7/Fighter 6 would get a BAB of 11 allowing for three attacks (four with Rapid Shot) and four dice of Sneak Attack damage when she qualifies. Regardless, I like showing that she's a menace in combat. Everybody else has gotten to kick some major...

Doctor Who - Discussion Thread for The Game of Rassilon

Well, it's definitely simpler, if only because the skill choice is pretty much taken out of your hands. You select a background and that's it (except, in this case, I had to decide which Knowledge skills to take). Also, with no classes, feats or talents to select, it's a lot quicker. One...

Doctor Who - Discussion Thread for The Game of Rassilon

What the heck, I'll give it a shot. How about the classic Doctor's companion: The average Joe. Actually to be truly classic it should be a woman, I suppose. So here's the Average Jane (more or less) Jane seemed to be a bored (and, to be honest, somewhat boring) adjunct professor of sociology...

    Learning from TV

I don't try to plan character development, because they're not my characters. I will pull in stuff from character background to give the players a chance to do that character development stuff, but really it's not my job. :) I actually do a little development with recurring NPCS (like one PC's...

And the bad guys were going through numerous sources to find skeletal undead for the fake Xykons trick.

Wow. Good answers everybody, especially Quartz! Really brings home the fact that at medium to high level, your base damage can be completely swamped by your modifiers. And if iwatt is right about his strength, he could even forego Weapon Finesse for some other feat that piles on more damage.

Ah, okay, I'm officially convinced. I do wonder about Belkar from a rules perspective. He clearly loves to lay down the smack, but he's about as un-optimized for it as he can be. I assume he's using either dual daggers or dual short swords. As a Small creature, the short swords do 1d4...

    Darkvision and mirrors?

Darth, your link is broken. In the URL tag, you don't put the text you want in the tag, you put it between the tags, like this: Plane Great reference, by the way. :)

    Darkvision and mirrors?

Yes Yes Yes, but he doesn't make any sound unless you're in a forest and there's nobody there to hear it. :)

    Darkvision and mirrors?

If you allow this a clever player can extend his darkvision by using mirrors, which just seems odd to say the least.

Ok, I'll buy that. But you'd think he'd use it more often. :)

    Darkvision and mirrors?

Personally I would let the mirror work because it's just easier to adjudicate. When you start getting scientific you're going down the rathole that infravision and ultravision fell in. :) I would definitely remember to count the entire distance against your darkvision, though. If a mirror is...

I've seen several people mention that Belkar has at least one level in barbarian. But I seem to remember that he went and checked out the barbarian school and decided it wasn't for him. I haven't seen him rage, anyway (other than his usual psychotic behavior) and he's certainly had the...

    Essential Healing

In a very strange, early novel by Orson Scott Card (A Planet Called Treason), some of the people could heal with some funky kind of earth magic. I don't remember it real well, though. Also, in the same book, one entire nation of people could naturally regenerate. The aristocrats could do it...
