D&D 5E (2014) If you aren't buying magic items, where will you spend your gold?

I hope the DMG addresses this issue too because in 1E and 2E gold became irrelevant after a certain level because the PCs had nothing to spend it on. Whole troves of coinage became ignored by PCs because they only wanted magic items. The magic item shop (and expensive magic item crafting)...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeonscape no more?

Software that won't be finished for at least 13 months could fill the gap? Uh, no.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeonscape no more?

As for the tools, I'm surprised Hero Lab wasn't used. Pathfinder is an incredibly complex game and the folks at Lone Wolf have done an amazing job at keeping up with the new releases. The only drawback to it is that it's rather pricey if you get data from all the sourcebooks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeonscape no more?

If true, that actually matches the numbers for EN World polls that often asked how many were switching to 4E. :) Go EN World!

Pathfinder 1E Occult Adventures playtest available

Kinda burned out on new classes. Still, it'll be part of my subscription so I'll just check it out when it arrives next summer.

D&D 5E (2014) How do you think "Epic" play will work (if at all)?

I love epic level play. One of the things I loved about 1E through 3.X is that the only character limitations are set in your campaign - rather than the rules. With bounded accuracy, they could make levels 21-40 and the proficiency bonus at level 40 would only be something like +10 - hardly...

D&D 5E (2014) How do you feel about the Forgotten Realms?

I love the realms up through 3E. 4E's realms shall never be recognized as existing. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Full preview unlocked!

My early take on this edition is that if you've never played D&D before, this is the best edition you could start with. I think they hit it out of the park for new players. Where I'm less sure is for those who love D&D 3.x/Pathfinder and even, perhaps, 4E. Is there enough here to keep...

I'm disappointed that there doesn't seem to be anything about playing beyond 20th level.

    ICv2 Summer 2014 Ranks

Exactly. 5E the RPG is a great game, but WotC sees it like the 9-iron in a set of golf clubs. Just one of the tools in the toolbox.

Yeah, I don't like the limitations or the subscription model, so I'm giving it a pass.

Pathfinder 1E Where does Pathfinder go from here?

That's the main issue I have with 3.5 and Pathfinder is that it's really tough on homebrewers. I have no desire to design my own world due to the complexities of creating NPCs. However, because of companies like Frog God Games, I have plenty of great adventures to run without needing to create...

    D&D 5E (2014) So, 5e OGL

It most certainly did. But I bet they get it back with 5E - at least in the short term. Regarding a license for 5E though, I think it wouldn't hurt - even if all they license are adventures and campaign settings.

Roll20 publishes Game Percentages... Pathfinder at 25%

That surprises me too. Not only is 3.5 still popular in the wake of Pathfinder, but it's outperforming 4E by a significant margin too. 3.5 hasn't had a new product released *for almost 7 years* and it's still that popular??!!? Wow!

    D&D 5E (2014) What's the 5E plan?

Actually, the core books will indeed be the most profitable books they sell (if history repeats itself).

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's a complaint about the 5e books...

Yeah, the page numbers are just light enough to be hard to read sometimes. Otherwise, though, I like the layout and graphic arts. I think they did a good job.
