    D&D 5E (2014) Hoard of the Dragon Queen - a solid D effort.

Yeah, but those old AD&D modules say *right in the book* that they were originally created for tournament play.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hoard of the Dragon Queen - a solid D effort.

Really? There was absolutely no such promotion that I heard. The only reason I know about it is from reading threads like this on EN World - and that was after the product was out. It needs to be on the product itself, not in "promotions" that people may or may not witness.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hoard of the Dragon Queen - a solid D effort.

Sure it's fair to criticize - unless it's made very clear (in or on the product) that it's designed for the Adventure League style of play. Then you know what you're buying and should alter your expectations accordingly.

Pathfinder 1E The next thing I would like to see announced is....

I still want epic levels. Mythic is not a good substitute, IMO.

D&D 5E (2014) What do players spend their treasure on?

Hopefully the DMG answers the question of what to do with all the coins.

D&D 5E (2014) What do players spend their treasure on?

This was certainly an issue in 1E and 2E as well. After a certain (low) point, gold becomes meaningless as treasure. (Hence why 3E made magic item shops.)

    D&D 5E (2014) Neuroglyph's "30 Minutes with Mike Mearls" Interview

Yeah, I think we're getting a very small bit of the story re: 3E --> 4E in that interview. There was a lot more going on than it simply being a PHB to PHB issue. To frame it the way he framed it was, well, questionable at best. And a bit disappointing. But, hey, most of the folks involved...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Based on what we've seen so far, they are going to outsource most of the products to trusted partners. They simply don't have the staff to create that many books in house. 4 of their first 8 products are being produced by non-WotC companies.

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

It really does feel like a more natural evolution from 2E than 3.x did. Especially with the limits to ability scores and lower damage by monsters (than 3.x).

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Actually, the most fascinating thing to me about the excellent sales of the 5E PHB is that THEY GAVE THE GAME AWAY FOR FREE with the basic PDF. There's a case study in there somewhere.... I mean, sure, the SRDs of 3.x and Pathfinder are free as well, but those do not include character generation.

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Why just yesterday, I had 5 of the top 10 spots.... If only those darned D&D books hadn't come along....

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

I spent some time with the 5E PHB a couple of days ago. As a Pathfinder fan, I came away thinking 5E was a good game, but not rich enough to lure me away from Pathfinder. This, combined with 5E's light product offerings, makes me think that 5E will not herald any return to D&D's glory days -...

D&D 5E (2014) No Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting in development?

Interesting! This explains why they are referring folks to get the 3E or 4E Realms campaign settings. Can you now play the new FR adventures in any era? What a fascinating idea!

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th edition stat-block concern: Saving throws

Maybe the most elegant solution is to put an asterisk or other symbol (maybe a superscript "s") by the ability score/modifier to indicate that the save is different.

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

I think 5E will be a success, but a golden era? Nah. Those days are gone. The most impressive thing to me about 5E is that I think every D&D player - regardless of favorite edition - will be able to recognize this as a game they can play, just from playing that other edition. Granted, we...

D&D 5E (2014) Given WotC plans with the RPG will 5e always be the #1 seller?

Well, if you hadn't helped cause Paizo to rise to such prominence, none of this conversation would be taking place. So you only have yourself to blame, Mr. Smarty-pants. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an Advance Class Guide pdf to go read....

    ICV2 Spring RPG Ranking Out

It is weird. Wasn't D&D doing all those Sundering adventures in the Spring?
