So what woud have been true backwards compatibility... assuming it's not a reprint of the exact same game? EDIT: I'm just confused by what some people seem to have thought backwards compatibility, yet revised rules, was actually going to be....

I wish Goodman Games had just reprinted this as a premium box set. I never got a chance to grab it in physical form and they actually own it.

Is there any verifiable proof that WotC is currently working with bigots? Because if so I'd stop buying their products in a heartbeat. If not why is this manufactured whataboutism your go to?

Shadowdark is really the only OSR game I support. OSE isn't problematic but they have definitely taken a head in the sand stance (as well as expecting their fans to do the same) when it comes to things like this. I used to support them, don't anymore.

That infamous OSR political "neutrality" in action. I'm curious to see how many OSR fans pledge for this, and then wonder why the OSR gets syuch a bad rep, especially amongst PoC, LGBTQ+ and other minorities.

Who hasn't "borrowed" ttrpg design concepts from other designers and games when designing a new game? I'd love to hear the name of a wholly new and innovative ttrpg that borrows nothing from any other game. That said... Again how many have "borrowed" the entirety of the 5e, 3e, 1e, or B/X...

IMO, it's just weird to come into a thread about what D&D stuff people are excited for and post on the evils/ineptitude/your disdain for WotC & D&D while calling those actually engaging with the premise of the thread...apologists... Thats not thread drift it's threadcrapping.

Yeah but alot of it is just whinning because your specific preferences or wants aren't being put above the majority in the precise manner you(general) feel they should be. Edit: At a certain point... if you are that dissatisfied with a game... why not stop hating on it and spend that energy...

It's more than getting it in front of people... its getting awareness of what TotV even is to most people... even those who play D&D.

I'm looking forward to the Eberron book, the starter set and the Dragon Delves book. I'm more wait and see with the FR books as my preferred WotC settings are more along the lines of Planescape, Ravnica and Eberron vs. FR or Greyhawk.

The TTRPG hobby shrinks year after year, eventually going the way of something like model trains, as no company has the market power, brand recognition or budget to attract casual players and grow the community in the same way WotC/Hasbro did. Hard-core ttrpg players would continue with old D&D...
