Pathfinder 1E I’ve Forgotten How to Play Pathfinder

"How to play Pathfinder" here doesn't mean what to roll to hit or whatever, I don't think. It seems to mean how to engage in the character creation and optimization minigame, as well as the resource management minigame. By that metric, I never did know how to play PF1. I ran it for years but...

Pathfinder 1E I’ve Forgotten How to Play Pathfinder

No. Everything was redesigned and it had far, far more new bits on top than what 3.5 ever had.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

So Cyberpunk is just its aesthetic? I don't buy it.

Chili isn't just the ingredients, it is how it is cooked and seasoned that makes it chili. Otherwise it is just beef and bean soup.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

It is always a mistake to take the prognostication of fictional futures literally. To say we aren't living in a cyberpunk dystopia because you can hardwire in is missing the point of cyberpunk's warning. We live in a time where technology is dismantling democracy and centralizing power in...

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

Other than the chrome, we are pretty much living the Cyberpunk future now. Transhumanism, by contrast, is pure fantasy and doesn't really tell us anything about the immediate future like Cyberpunk did in the mid 80s.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

They do not. Trouble does, but other aspects are just things that are true. Experiences are true. The GM in DH is explicitly allowed to do whatever by spending a fear. That included compelling an experience.

What are you aiming at here? Does it matter to you whether DH is on its 1st or 5th printing? Is it a collector thing?

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

One of the problems with discussing the "business side of Daggerheart" is that we unfortunately don't have a lot of information. They sold out some print runs, but we don't know how big those print runs were. they have some brick and mortar penetration, but how many? Where? What scale? And...

Spoilers What do people get wrong about Tolkien?

Here's the neat thing about Tolkien: if there is anything you have a theory about, you can find writing from.the Professor about it. If you want to know what Gandalf meant, just dig. That's the real issue: folks have thoughts and ideas and opinions, and very rarely actudo the research.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases Updated Unearthed Arcana for Arcane Subclasses

This is such a strange take. Do you actually think a new book would not sell more than the OLD two books?

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

Because I generally don't run published adventures, I don't care about them as genre definers. Adventure writers are beholden to the widest possible audience and therefore usually default to D&D nonsense even when writing for other games. I remember one developer I worked for having to fire a...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases Updated Unearthed Arcana for Arcane Subclasses

They absolutely killed 2 monster books for a new one. I can't see any reason they would not "re-issue" the splats as a new book.

Yup. They are planning a Tashas/Xanathars killer.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

Themes and genres evolve and its seems a waste to only consider the early work "pure."
